Jonathan Martin (32) attempted a carjack outside a convenience store in Charleston, West Virginia. In the car were four children, ages 9, 3, 19 months, and 4 months.
The play-by-play is on the article, but for convenience sakes I shall post it here.
"While she was away, Jonathan Martin yanked open the car door, according to police.
'He told me to get out, but I didn't get out,' Malik said in a WCHS-TV interview. He fought back because he feared for the lives of his brothers.
Skip over this content Malik pulled the keys out of the ignition and tried to keep them away from the attacker as he struggled with the man.
'He banged my head against the door,' the boy said. But Malik held on to the keys and ran into the store to get help.
The foiled carjacker ran, too. But he tripped in a nearby parking lot and lay there until police arrived, reported WSAZ, another local television station."
What do you guys think about this situation? Would you have done the exact same thing?

Wow. I really admire this 9 year old boy, Malik, for saving his younger siblings. It must have taken him a lot of guts and courage to stand up to the carjacker.
To answer your question Yoda, I would have done the same thing if someone were to try to carjack a car that my sister/family was in. I would do everything in my power to prevent the person from hurting or endangering my family.
As for the carjacker, he should really be ashamed of himself for threatening and putting those 4 kids' lives in danger. The oldest one, Malik is only 9 years old and the youngest is 4 months. FOUR MONTHS. The carjacker even banged Malik's head against the car door. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That' HORRIBLE. This carjacker disgusts me. It really disappoint me to hear someone try to do such a thing.
I find it really disturbing that the screwed up carjacker could inflict pain on a little nine year old boy. He probably thought he could take advantage of the kids and get away with it, but he found himself in a mess when he TRIPPED. That's karma for him.
But the kid was extremely brave! I think it's really admirable that he would do that for the sake of his family. I think I would have done the same if I were put in that situation, but maybe not be as successful.
What a boss.
"What a boss."
I second that.
Admirable.
This incidence reminds me of Home Alone, I think that's what the movie is called.
Owned .... that guys fails
This carjacker is a joke. He couldn't take a nine year old boy, tripped trying to run away, and confessed to the cops before they even questioned him. I mean really if you’re going to do something bad at least be good at it! This man should be ashamed for what he did to those children.
As much as I would like to believe that I would have done the same thing as Malik, and I think that is what I would do, I can't be totally sure. It would take tons of courage to actually do that and although now it is easy to say I would, nothing can emulate the actual situation.
But anyway, in conclusion: Malik is awesomely adorable.
I really admire Malik.
If I were in that situation, I would do the same thing. I would rather put myself in jeopardy and protect my younger siblings.
I agree with Josh. The carjacker should be really ashamed. How can you do such a thing to kids. Especially ones that are so young. The youngest being four months.
