Bellwether election in Virginia?
Today elections are being held all over the country but in Viriginia the race for Governor is being carefully watched. Virginia, a typically red state, in recent years has gone blue and the Democrats want to keep it that way ( a year ago the Democrats looked at Virginia as a sign of the party's dominance). If the Republican canidate, McDonnell, wins over the Democratic canidate, Deeds, this will be seen as a message that people aren't happy with Obama and the Democrats. Exit polls have been showing that voters in Virginia supported McCain over Obama in 2008, suggesting that the Democats didn't successfully get their base to turn out, perhaps meaning that voters were only fired up about Obama and won't turn out for other democrats.
