A Safer Black Friday

link

Last year's Black Friday at Wal-Mart was a disaster. A man was trampled by a rushing crowd. This year, however, should be better since security measures are going to be elevated and employees are going to direct people around. Furthermore, the "National Retail Federation created a comprehensive set of guidelines for crowd control" for the "first time." This is good, I hope.

A quote was brought up, saying that "[n]o matter how seamless and airtight [one] think[s] this is...the unexpected can happen". Shouldn't this be the mentality that is in everyone's mind when they do anything?

Lol, there's already a topic for this. But I'll say the same thing anyways.

"Why can't people just shop what they want online?

Superstores should make shipping free.

Of course, items like sofas require a shipping fee, but that fee needs to be paid for even if it's ordered in the store anyways."

Yes, he died. It's hard to imagine how the crowd completely disregarded the employee as they wildly stampeded him. It's what you would expect from wildebeasts.

Well...even with security, if Wal-mart gets a mob on their hands, someone is gonna get trampled...be it employee or customer...

So bottom line is, people need to listen to the employees...if they don't...well...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but could'nt the problem be solved if people would simply not push the person in front of them? That way, if someone were to fall, the person behind him/her could help pick him/her up instead of being forced to trample him/her by the people in the back.

Sorry for using him/her so much.

Well i guess you can't help pushing the person in front of you if there are too many people.
I'm not talking about pushing someone on purpose, more so that the sudden rush of people behind you made you move forward and you pushed out to balance yourself.
Kinda reminds me of the SAT list that everyone's looking over. Is it really that hard to print out a couple pages and paste them around the school instead of just one window..?

Well.. they would lose money & they wouldn't want that.

As for me, shopping is more convenient. That way I can go around and actually try stuff on (if its clothes), check the materials, etc. It takes less time too. (unless you are shopping with your mom) ;)

Still.. for a guy to get trampled... I would imagine people would notice a bump in the ground.. but then with so many people behind.. I guess it would be hard to stop..It would have been better if the news was the shoppers tripped over him instead of trampling him.

Yep, what a shame. This is score one for nature in the nature vs nurture debate. The people just go back to their basic primal desires of getting that wanted item.

Lily, I mean shop online at the superstore's website instead of in person.
