Faking Breast Cancer for some mulah.

The scandal of today!

Trista Lathern, a 24 year old woman, allegedly FAKES breast cancer to raise some money. She collected $10,000 dollars before she admitted to an investigator that she does not have breast cancer. What is she going to use the money for, you may ask. Breast implants. She believed that the breast implants would have saved her 7 month marriage, but instead it became a catalyst. Her husband, William, filed for annulment the day she was arrested.

It's one thing to pay for breast implants, but it is a whole new story when you fake breast cancer. I mean seriously, I thought Tom Price was crazy, but I guess there are crazier people out there. (For those who don't know Tom Price, he is the "I OBJECT!" guy.)

What are your inputs on this?

yeaaa...that is really stupid of that lady to fake breast cancer. First of all she is trying to gain sympathy for a very unsympathetic cause. Breast implants? really? Secondly, I highly doubt that the implants would have saved her marriage anyways. Apparently, her marriage wasn't working in the first place and perhaps her arrest solidified the divorce.
I think its society telling people they have to look a certain way that caused this woman to want to get breast implants. Everywhere you go there are images in magazines, on the internet, on tv, etc that show pictures that end up brainwashing people to think they have to look like what they see.
Perhaps she was just very desperate to save her marriage and she tried to do whatever possible, but this obviously was not the way to go. I don't know if you could call her crazy but definitely not thinking rationally. In a way I feel bad for her because she felt the need to stoop so low..

This is pathetic frankly. From personal experience within my family breast cancer is a serious thing and is a very painful experience for not only the woman diagnosed with it but for the family as well. If her husband made her feel that she had to get implants to save her marriage that is extremley sad as well. She needs some psychology if she has that much issues to fake breast cancer, just to get implants. Woman need to learn to be happy with their bodies and learn how to work what they got.

Seriously, I agree with Talia and Justine, lookism will not save your marriage. I don't think she is crazy; she's just desperate.

I'm not trying to be a cynic here, but maybe the lesson to consider is to watch out for non-profits that really aren't non-profits.

I also agree. Its horrible to fake any cancer, let alone breast cancer that effects millions of women. I think this is also a wake up call to the image that is presented to women and girls as acceptable. No one should have to get breast implants to make themsleves feel better about the way they look, but I am in no way sympathizing with her. I think that faking cancer is unexcusable.

Wow. This Trista woman is very very desperate. The mature thing to do would be to go to counseling or something of that matter. Even if the counseling doesn't help, breast implants won't solve your life's problems.

I'm outraged that she would fake having breast cancer when so many are suffering from it. Faking it and then using the money for breast implants...horrible.

I agree that this is a comment on the way the female image is warped by the media, but I think it even says something about the priorities in modern relationships. It could true that her spouse was disillusioned by their sexual experiences. Just to think that a divorce could result from such things is astounding. But if that is what he married her for, then it can hardly be surprising. Love is no longer a priority and gone are the days when one could say "love" without sounding corny.

I agree with everybody's comments and ideas. Who in the right mind would fake breast cancer? Breast cancer is a serious issue/problem, and is nothing to be joked around with.

This lady is extremely desperate. Just like Talia said, she may also be conforming to what society thinks women should look like.
