health care bill passes in the house

The 220-215 vote to pass health care legislation in the House marks a huge victory for Obama. The legislation "provides coverage for 96 percent of Americans. It offers everyone, regardless of health or income, the peace of mind that comes from knowing they will have access to affordable health care when they need it," said Rep. John Dingell. And if the Senate passes their version of the legislation Obama is "looking forward to signing it into law by the end of the year". If this goes through, Obama's approval ratings are sure to improve.

I personally do support the bill. However, I am not sure if this bill will truly increase Obama's approval ratings. This bill is highly controversial among the population. The reason why the vote was so close is because of this split. Obama already has the majority of the lower income approval I would say. I think the passing of this bill will most likely increase the intensity that people approve or disprove of Obama rather than which side they are on

I agree with Mark. While the health bill seems like a great thing for the country, many people don't seem to think so. As you can see from the close vote, almost half of Congress disagrees with the contents of this new bill.

As for improving Obama's approval rating, only time will tell...and only after we see the effects of the new health care bill.
