A New Mexico soccer player made national headlines as a result of her dirty play in a conference tournament game. Her made an apology for her violent hair pulling, punching, kicking, and elbowing against her BYU opponents. She claims that her violent acts, which were caught on camera, were "not her" and she doesn't know why she acted this way. This girl is complaining that male soccer players are that violent and that she is getting a lot of attention, (over 6 million views on youtube) because she is a woman. She argues taht if she was a male, this story would not have even been in the news.
I saw the video of her horific actions and I was disgusted. She purposely tried to hurt her BYU opponents during the game. In addition, the referees never saw her do those things, so she got away with it. However, the cameras did capture her unsportsmanlike conduct. I am actually glad that the cameras caught her doing those things because I think she needs to learn a major lesson. I think it is ridiculous that she claims what was caught on video was "not her". What do you mean? Of course it was you and you probably do those things in every game you play. I do agree with her that this story was broadcasted a lot more because she is a woman, however it is still wrong. Her actions are still not justified. I am glad to know that BYU still ended up winning despite her outrageous actions.

When my friend showed me this video, I was screaming at the screen in outrage.
Apparently, she almost broke a BYU player's neck when she yanked her to the ground by her hair. Her actions are completely ridiculous and unjustifiable.
There's no way that someone can commit that many personal fouls in a game and claim it was heat of the moment. I would be willing to be a good amount of money that she's been using this kind of violent play for a while, and she, if given the opportunity, will continue to use it.
Also, there's no way that, between her coaches and fellow teammates, that this behavior went completely unnoticed. I would question the morals of whoever saw this behavior and let it continue.
I love sports, and I understand a passion for the game, but that should never lead to this kind of behavior.
Lambert has completely disgraced herself, her team, and her school, all to win a game of soccer. That's crossing the line, and Lambert should be seriously punished and monitored.

I would like to see this girl try and pull one of her stunts on me and walk off the field in the same game. Not going to happen. I saw this on the news last week, or so, and I was about ready to cuss this girl out! I agree with Kristyn; how can she say "it wasn't me" when it clearly is.
I'm not so sure that she's getting more attention than a male player for the reasons she thinks. I think she's getting more attention because women are known to be more competitive than men, so their tempers will probably flare out of control more easily. Still, that doesn't justify what she did.

Not to shalk any one but i thought it was kind of funny. That she was being so rough. But in every sport there is roughness and hers just happened to be cought on tape. I think that no matter what if your male or female that people should have the same reaction to what people do. If a man had pulled anothermans hair it would be viewed as weired not and outrage.
As a soccer player myself I found it pathetic that this incident is what it takes to really get the sport some high national attention. This girl’s actions were completely ridiculous, I mean although soccer is definitely a more physical game than many give it credit for, her actions broke pretty much every rule in the book.
First of all, on one Sports Center segment about the game they mentioned that this player is known for playing dirty. Clearly you can't develop habits like those over night, and she was DEFINITELY lying when she said she didn't know why she was acting that way- she knew exactly what she was doing, and on top of that, as a NCAA collegiate athlete she most certainly knew how wrong she was.
Second, there is no way that her coach didn't see any of this going on. This is most definitely a dirty player who has been playing this way for a while, and there is NO WAY the coach could be that oblivious to it. This puts the coach very much in the wrong as well in my opinion. He should have done something in order to stop this player from playing so rough before it advanced to this point. If my coach ever saw anyone on our team do anything like this, he would pull them off immediately.
She should feel ashamed and embarrassed. Not only did she make a fool of herself, but she didn't even win (thank you karma). She disserves to be suspended indefinitely, as she has been.
This story got so much coverage because it is sensational and what she did was so blatantly violent. Not, as she said, because she is a woman. My dad and I watch a lot of soccer and I have never seen a male player, with exception of the last World Cup Final where Zidane butted an Italian defender in the chest, display the level of violence that she did. She doesn't seem sorry that she did it, only that she got caught. Playing the gender card as an excuse just makes it all the more deplorable, to me.
its funny for her to say guys are more vviolent than her because guys tend to be more aggresive but almost always never get to a point of that kind of violence in soccer. im pretty sure i would know from playing so much soccer.
but more so there are so many views because of how violent the actions she committed were not because she is a girl

I know that this is an older blog, but since soccer season started I felt it was necessary to comment. I agree with everyone who's commented this blog so far. This athlete should be banned for miss conduct and bad sportsmanship. Playing dirty to win is one thing, but when the other team is playing dirty, as a soccer player, you have to kick it up a notch. I will admit that in today's game against Seratoga, I had to play rough because the other team was playing dirty (ie kneed pelvic bone, stepped on my hand, etc). Yes, I know it's soccer and this kind of stuff happens, but when it does I'm sure everyone, if they were in my shoes would try and play as aggressive as possible, clean or dirty.
However, because this player, didn't seem to get injured or given a bad call, her bad sportsmanship is not justified and she should be banned or at the very least suspended for some time.
