Well its obvious that Cheney and President Obama clearly have different views on whether or not Gitmo should be closed, but on Tuesday the Senate Democrats denied the administration's request for $80 million to close it down. So i figured to post a cartoon up instead of posting a blog. The link is at the bottom if you are interested in reading up on the closing of Gitmo. President Obama's position on Guantanamo Bay: "the prison has made the United States less safe and set back the country's 'moral authority'."

I highly suspect that there is something that the oval office knows that they're not willing to tell. These possible secrets could be why Obama changed his mind after he became president.
Yes, I agree with Kevin. This really does lead people to suspect whether or not something is going on in the office that we don't know about. Closing Gitmo was Obama's idea to begin with. If he changes his mind after taking office, this could lead many people to distrust him and wonder if there is more to what he is doing or what is going on.
Sure, there could be those other reasons but it could also be financially as well. Then again 80 million isn't that much for the nation's government to spend.
i agree with everything that y'all are saying, but if Obama knew that this was a possibility then why advocate (more or less) that he would close Gitmo and say that the previous adminstration was wrong for creating one? (it might be pointless for us to still have it, but you have to take into account the time period for which it was created.)i think that by his hessitation (for whatever reason)will in fact lead to people's doubts whether or not President Obama will stick to his word.
So many secrets in the government, what else is new. So annoying. I agree with Lily, 80 million is like pocket change to them. What they're doing at Gitmo is wrong, but I suppose they see it fit. Anything to save the country, I guess.
