That's right I said it. New Moon is officially in theaters tomorrow, November 20th, 2009. Critics are calling this movie the most anticipated movie of the year. For those of you who don't know what New Moon is, check out the trailer.

This saga mostly captures the attention of the females of the world, but I'm sure there are many Twilight and New Moon male fans out there. This movie is so huge that many people are going to see the 12:01 am showing later this evening. In fact, tickets for the midnight showing are sold out! this movie is going to be making a HUGE amount of money. Are you a fan? Are the movie theaters going to be taking your money?

I, for one, am DEFINITELY seeing this movie. I have not ever been more excited for a movie featuring both Robert Pattinson AND Taylor Lautner. Oh boy.
Hahahaha. But in all seriousness, this movie does look a lot more legitimate than the first of the series. It's actually kind of interesting how much popularity this film series has generated especially since it started out as an extremely low budget film until MTV endorsed it.
Hahaha Talia you are so excited for New Moon haha. I'm SUPER excited for New Moon!!! But since so many people are gonna be seeing it, I guess I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to see it!
Haha Preston. You're so funny!
I defintely am excited to see New Moon. I don't feel like it is a waste of my money because I have never been this into a film series before. Especially since the books are so good, it makes people want to watch the movie even more. I agree with Yvonne. A couple of weeks is probably the best choice.
no straight up no. Maybe I'll see it when it comes out on dvd but i saw the first one and it was definitely no vampire lestat chronicles (anne rice). Meyer needs some work but hey it's manufactured to be for teenage girls so I see the general appeal
Im kinda sad this made it onto our blog
I AM A HUGE FAN!!!! I will admit that i did read all of the twilight saga books and i do have a twilight tee shirt of forks highschool and i did go to the 12:01AM showing :) I Loved it people say they dont get whats the big deal is. But Its Like harry potter or a video game that you really like
*cough modern warfare 2 cough* for you guys out there.
and tim its a sad world
GET USED TO IT LOL!
I just wanted to point our that New Moon is SOOO muchhh better thatn twilight!
I've never really liked this saga but I'm not here to bash it. I just noticed last Thursday, after watching 2012, that there were three long lines of, mostly, teenage girls waiting to see it at midnight. I was shocked. Are people that desperate? Wow ...

Personally, I'm just annoyed that this series has destroyed centuries of Vampire Lore development. Vampires have gone from losing power and burning up in sunlight to... sparkling? My real response to that is a desire to say "Excuse me?!?!?" very loudly. Have I read the books? No, so I'm not judging their merit. But I have heard Ms. Wei rant about the destruction of Vampire Lore, and as a Buffy fan, I agree with her.
Admittedly, in Buffy there are two good Vampires. And maybe that's where all this started. But at least when they walk into sunlight, they burn. At least there's some cool lore.
Sam, Buffy does about as much for Vampires as Twilight does. I know you like it a lot, but pointing to Buffy as contrast is not the best example. Rather, lets look to Dracula, by Bram Stoker, the first vampire story.
Let's list Dracula's powers, he could turn into not only a bat, but a dog (eat your heart out, Jacob), smoke and moonbeams (overpowered, I know). He was also superhumanly fast, strong and immortal, oh, and he can control minds. Sunlight does not kill him, but only saps his superpowers. His list of weaknesses is equally absurd, as he can't cross running water unless at high or low tides and cannot enter a house without being invited. He is also repulsed by crucifixes, garlic and sacramental bread. Also, he cannot recover his strength unless resting on Transylvanian soil, for which reason he brings boxes of soil with him on his travels.
The name Dracula itself means "son of the Dragon", with Dracul meaning dragon. In Christian mythology, dragons are heavily associated with evil and the devil. Therefore, Dracula would be the Antichrist. Bram Stoker was aware of this as many times in the novel, when referring to Dracula, "He" is capitalized.
I find it supremely ironic that Twilight has such a correlation with Christian ideology (abstinence anyone?) when a major character is based on the Antichrist. However, it's largely pointless to debate over which recent pop culture vampire is the best example of "Vampire Lore" when most of them are so far from the "real vampire". While I do prefer some over the others (Cirque du Freak, by Darren Shan comes highly recommended),I think each can be appreciated for its respective merits.
I am so excited!! After watching the first one, i knew i had to see the second. The vampire battles and the love story just left me entranced.
So this weekend, i saw it with a bunch of my buds. I have to say, I was pretty impressed.
Everything was an improvement over the first movie. The visual effects were better. The drama and suspense were better.
If you want to see a movie, then Twilight NEw Moon is the movie for you.
Lol, this is like the girl version of the Star Wars series: something that the majority of one gendor favors.
I think that the boyfriend(s) (if you have one) will be a bit bothered by his girlfriend watching this movie, but he won't say anything about it.
Mainly, he is afraid of comments like this one I found on Youtube:
"THIS MOVIE WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i saw it with my entire 10th grade class [teachers took us] and we girls cuudnt stop screaming wen jacob came on the screen!!!!
i love jacob, jasper and alice!!!!
my lovers for life!!!!!!!<3333"

Oh, guys, you know you secretly afraid of losing your girlfriends if they ever meet these actors in person, lol.
Ok, I promise that was my last post, for real this time.
I was a bit shocked when I read an article about how well New Moon did in theatres this weekend. I haven't seen it yet, nor do I plan to, and I haven't seen anything more than the first couple of minutes of Twilight (found it on youtube xD )... so I shouldn't judge. But, from what I have seen, I think the entire series is a bit overrated. The storyline of the books was definitely entertaining, but I just don't think the quality is there where the movies are concerned.
Sam, I just wanted to say that although there are two good vampires in Buffy, both were cursed with a soul. Otherwise they would be just as bad as everyone else.
Although Bram Stoker's Vampire was among the first pop fiction stories about vampires and helped give them their current characteristics and stereotypes (crosses, garlic, holy water, sunlight, etc), the ancient folk stories on which the vampire is originally based are very different. To quote from wikipedia (hehehe), "It is difficult to make a single, definitive description of the folkloric vampire, though there are several elements common to many European legends. Vampires were usually reported as bloated in appearance, and ruddy, purplish, or dark in colour; these characteristics were often attributed to the recent drinking of blood. Indeed, blood was often seen seeping from the mouth and nose when one was seen in its shroud or coffin and its left eye was often open.[29] It would be clad in the linen shroud it was buried in, and its teeth, hair, and nails may have grown somewhat, though in general fangs were not a feature." I can't help but wonder how a bloated appearance, linen shrouds, and sleeping in coffins came to be represented by Robert Pattinson.
They haven't taken my money, but they certainly have a lot of it.

The movie sold an estimated $140.7 million from Friday-Sunday in Canada and the U.S., and has a worldwide launch total of $258.8 million.
Lots of moneys.
Hmm yea, this series is gonna make a lot of money, and I'm sure it isn't a bad one. As a response to the discussion about vampire lore, I just want to say that the author has said that she wrote this story after having a dream...and I didn't really expect her to follow traditional vampire lore.
Speaking of vampires...my favorite series involving them is probably Hellsing. It's a manga that twists together vampires, nazi's and zombies. Oh and guess what? The main character's name is Alucard...that's Dracula spelled backwords...and he just happens to have the same powers...

Ahhhhh! Part of me wishes I could have seen this as soon as possible, but another part of me is afraid that NM will be ruined like Twilight was by screaming rabid fangirls. I missed half of the first movie due to screaming when there wasn't even anything on the screen.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to see it soon, though, because I, for one, am in love with the CGs... and Taylor Lautner. Haha

And even though I have read the books and fell in love with them, it is true that a part of me (the vamp lover in me) was slightly put off when a sparkly vampire came into play. Of course, I overlooked it and just tried to focus on the love triangle and werewolves. lol >_>

I can't believe I watched this movie twice, but it was so worth it. Definitely the most anticipated movie of the year!
