The catfish being petted...
That's pretty funny.
Also, Miku ftw!!
I approve of this.
And the fish.
FISHIE
OMG!!!!
In case you people who aren't familiar with fishkeeping, a red tail catfish is a wide and broad fish known for quickly outgrowing most aquariums, as well as destroying them too giving them the label "tankbusters". A shovelnose catfish has a slightly different physiology - it possesses an incredibly narrow body made for digging. Both fish grow pretty large and vicious.
This hybrid has to be artificially inseminated because cross-breeding is rare in an aquarium setting - even between the same species.

Actually, I think natural cross-breeding IS impossible, not just rare.
RTC's are a tank buster, but I'll tell you, pacu's are definitely the most infamous fish when it comes to tank busting.
Yuzo your obsession with fish is adorable! But eww I cant imagine pettng my fish... I think it's a little bit awkward. I petted some at Underwater Adventures and other places like that when I was younger and the feeling was "wierd". I'm not sure if it was a good feeling or not.
Hey, there's another person who's familiar with fishkeeping.
Jenny, once you get acquainted with fish, you will realize that there are lots of fish that can be petted.
The key to conditioning them is simple: handfeed the fish...preferably with something they like.
I handfeed krill (sometimes deshelled when I'm not lazy) to my cichlid, and as a result, it is conditioned to swim up the top of the tank when I appear.
I get bitten by its teeth sometimes...it feels like two combs scraping against my fingertips.
Oh, and about the pacu. I don't like them. My family bought one before, but I returned to Petsmart because I knew it eats plants.
Jenny, YOU are adorable! =)
And Kevin, its a good thing you don't like pacus. They grow like crazy (mine grew 6" in two weeks) and nobody wants them. Luckily for me, it was still less than a foot, so a local fish store actually took it in for me for credit, but in cases where the pacu grows over a foot, I have seen people posting on forums willing to pay a person to take it off of their hands.
Oh Yuzo.. only you. Only you. ;D
Hmmm this is very interesting... who knew that catfish likes to be petted?!
Exactly, Yuzo.
That's why I refunded mines before it really grew.
えぇ~? 何にこれ...?
ぜんぜんわかんない...
