Four relatives slain during Fla. Thanksgiving gathering

Two days ago, on Thanksgiving, in Florida, a man opened fired on his family. This occurred after they had dinner. The man killed his pregnant sister, 6 year old cousin, and two other relatives before he got into his car and drove away. This man is also accused of kill his pregnant sister's twin as well as another aunt. Police are still searching for this suspect. The police have reported that there was "ongoing resentment" in the family which was probably the likely cause of this incident. The police department has even enlisted the U.S. MArshalls to help find the suspect. One of the victims was the neighbor's son. He was supposed to perform in the Nutcracker the next day.

There have been so many killings in the news, but this one stands out. The fact that the suspect killed people on Thanksgiving is terrible. I'm not sure how killing your families is justified or killing anyone. I am also surprised that the police have not caught the suspect yet.

these kind of stories are absolutely horrible to hear about, but i do wonder what the motive was for the murders, if any. killing multiple people, especially family members, seems awfully cold blooded. because of this, i assume that there must be some serious motive or that the man must be particularly mentally unstable, though the two needn't be mutually exclusive...

This story is really upsetting. I really don't understand what would entitle people to commit actions such as these, and on top of that on a day like Thanksgiving. Well I have another thing to be thankful for: that I don't have family members who are literally trying to kill me.

This is a terribly tragic story. Unfortunately, as humans we are all prone to anger and sometimes we take it too far. Hopefully this man is caught and is punished justly for his actions.

I've heard of family feuds, but dang! This takes it way passed the limit. I'm not sure about other people, but for me, there is nothing in this world that could make you angry enough to actually kill someone who shares your own flesh and blood. Yes, there are times when I've wanted to cause my cousins to permanently lose the use of a limb, or two, but in the end they're still family.

I think what made this story stand out so much is the fact that it was a family massacre on a day when family celebrate being together again.

Despite the overall observation that someone like this is mentally unstable, we should also recognize that the suspect is essentially attempting to draw attention to himself. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

This is a very tragic story. In response to what Devin wrote, I would have to agree. Killing is never justified, and to think of someone killing my family is just a horrendous thought. On another note, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

This kind of horror story scares me to a certain extent. I do not understand how someone can open fire on his or her own family. What makes it even worse is the fact that an innocent little girl was killed. It seems as if the dispute was between the adults and the suspect, and it is incredibly tragic how a young girls life was cut short because of alleged familial issues. There has to be some deep issue here, since this seems to be an act of passion rather than an act that had been planned. i understand that this man may have been mentally unstable, or extremely angry, but I do not think that much will justify this action. This is such a horrible thing to happen, let alone to happen on Thanksgiving, a day we are supposed to be celebrating what we have to be thankful for. Hopefully justice will be served and the suspect will be caught and given the sentence he deserves.

How brutal... What is most unsetting is that we havent found this person. How did that person get a gun? Why is it so easy for people like him (Columbine/Virginia Tech) to get guns?

How awful, just awful. This is exactly why the US should put more of an effort to regulate guns or even ban them from citizen use. People being murdered on a holiday is just unbelievable. Its supposed to be a time of happiness and giving thanks for the things you have. I agree, there is no justification for killing four of your own relatives, even if you were extremely angry.

Hopefully this man is found soon.

This is so sad. Thanksgiving is suppose to be a time of great peace and a time when families can come together and share a day of happiness. This is so devastating! I still can't help but wonder why so many people commit murders. This man really needs to be found soon and be brought to justice.

Wow this story is really sad. Even if you hate your family, how can you live with the fact that you killed them? I really hope this guy gets caught and receives life in prison. It's times like these that I think our government is too lenient on the death penalty.
