After Failed Plane Bombing, Britain Turns Focus to Yemen

"With investigators into the failed attack on an American airliner focusing on Yemen as the place where the bomber appears to have met operatives from Al Qaeda and prepared for the attack, Britain announced Friday that it would host an international summit meeting on combating Islamic radicalization in Yemen.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Yemen would be the focus of a meeting in London on Jan. 28, when world leaders would be meeting there to discuss the allied war effort in Afghanistan.

Mr. Brown said in a statement that he had support for the Yemen meeting from the United States and the European Union, and that he would seek backing from Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf states."

Finally! Yes! Victory!

I have more respect for Prime Minister Brown now than ever before. This man is a hero. Well, maybe that's saying too much. I'm still disappointed in American intelligence however. WE are the ones who ought to advocate for more focused attention on Yemen. This is really embarrassing. Maybe Brown is trying to lend us a hand but seriously if he has to promote combating Islamic radicalization in a country WE ought to take more seriously, we need to prioritize a bit more carefully.

I'm really glad this is happening. The more countries we have on watch the better.

Security is essential. Period.

I know I'm not supposed to do this, but... I totally agree!!! We need to keep our eyes on ALL countries posing a terrorist threat. We simply can not pick and choose.
