Limewire must shut down?!

Woah woah woah... i was looking for a photo for my last blog post.. and i stumbled upon an article about Limewire. The peer two peer file sharing company has lost a 4 year legal dispute with the record companies and is being ordered by the courts to shut down.

"The decision to have the site shut down was a result of a ruling earlier this year. A Manhattan federal judge ruled in favor of 13 record labels and the Recording Industry Association of America's copyright infringement suit against the website"

So there goes limewire..... what now? It's time for fellow limewire users to find another place for music.

Limewire degraded to viruses and spyware towards the end anyways.

This was alway inevitable. You can only screw over the most lawsuit-happy industry out of billions of dollars for so long before their wrath will descend. Too bad most people who pirated content switched to other outlets, namely torrents, years ago. Limewire has been dead in the water for years. It was just finally time that someone put a nail in the coffin.

Limewire was going to be shut down sooner or later. I admit I used Limewire a number of times, but every song I downloaded brought some sort of guilt upon myself. Anyway, it's something that takes away lots of money from an artist and even though it's a way to download free music, it's downright wrong.

I remember Limewire used to be such a big thing in middle school and probably freshman year or something...but I wouldn't know, it crashed my computer and deleted all my songs years ago. Cool beans.
