Polish Hunter Sues Because of an Elephant

A Polish hunter sued a German travel company because he wasn't able to find an elephant and shoot it as he had initially wished. The company, Jaworski Jagdreisen, sent the hunter to Zimbabwe, telling him that he would be able to find an elephant in the area. However, to the hunter's dismay, no elephant was seen. The company later sent the hunter to another region where he finally did find an elephant to kill, but regardless, the hunter's still suing the company over his first trip. The court's ruling will be revealed on February 15.

In my opinion, this is bizarre - a hunter suing a company because he couldn't find an elephant to kill? But then again, people sue over many things, ranging from more important issues to odd ones.

This is ridiculous! That hunter needs to do better things with his life than whine about what he wasn't able to kill. I think it's sad and in the end he got the elephant to kill...so an animal (who is probably endangered) is killed and he still wants his money?!?! What the heck? The court needs to not be filled with stupid cases like this!

Morals of poaching aside, let's look at the legal aspects of this situation. If the company explicitly guaranteed and led the hunter to believe that there would be an elephant, when in fact, there wasn't one, they are violating a verbal contract made between them. Now I know that sounds ridiculous, but the law is the law. Personally, I think people who have to kill elephants to get off are sick people. But from a purely legal standpoint, what he's saying is not entirely batshoot.
