Cyclone Yasi Approaches Australia

Australians in Queensland are urged to flee as Cyclone Yasi, a deadly and life-threatening storm with winds of up to 174 mph, approaches. Many residents have left immediately, taking their personal belongings with them as the airports and roads will be closing. Hospital patients including premature babies and those in the intensive care unit are being airlifted by the military to safe hospitals in Brisbane.

Cyclone Yasi is forecast to land at 10PM on Wednesday (4AM Wednesday for us), flooding various areas around Queensland, including coastal regions. It is expected to last for 24 hours, bringing torrential rain and great winds; additionally, the storm caused by this will surge up to at least 2 meters above the normal tide line.

Hopefully everyone will be brought to safety before the storm hits.
