Bobblehead meg video

Every thing that this video claims is proven by different news sources.  It seems pretty reliable but I cant seem to find who funded this video.  I'm almost positive that the democrats have something to do with this add, but at the same time the video never explicitly tells you to vote for Brown.  This is a very clever add, but someone will be getting quite a bit of money from this because they are planning on selling the Meg bobble head they used in the video in a auction.

What an interesting video! Someone seems to have quite a bit of time on their hands and quite a strong opinion... To answer the question you wrote at the end of your post, that "someone" (the group that paid for the video) is the California Correctional Peace Officers Association Independent Expenditure Committee. This is reported at the very end of the video. It also says that the making of the video was "not authorized by any candidate or committee controlled by a candidate." So no, it doesn't have anything to do with the Democratic Party (that is, at least not directly).

Good find! This post goes perfectly hand in hand with what we've been talking about in class concerning campaign finance. The group that funded this video took full liberty with the Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United v. FEC (2009), which held that independent groups cannot be stopped from spending as much money as they want to support whatever candidate they want. The group was also obviously aware that they must state that they funded the ad, and not a Democratic candidate (as some are likely to assume). Does it matter that the name is at the very end of the video, when many people stop watching?

So many independent groups get involved in the election process...this just goes to show how much groups are willing to invest in order to get their interests met!

Sorry, just in case you don't know who "Jess" is, it's Jessia Hoffman... :-)

Even though i find this video very funny, i can't believe how much trashing candidates and other people do to their competitors. You can;t just advertise yourself and what you are going to do if we chose you? You have to out down the other person just so we can see how bad they are? When they put down their competitors all i learn is that this person is bad for the job, i never learn anything about how could you are i just learn bad things. For example, a commercial against Meg whitman, in the commercial i learn that shes a horrible person and everything she says and does is bad, but i will never learn how good of a job Brown will do. It is really sad that we just now go off oh i am not voting for that person because they have all of these things bad about them. I know not everyone votes like that, but that's the sense i get from all these negative advertisements. Really just show me why i should chose you instead of why i shouldn't chose the other person.

This shows me that in life i won't get anywhere unless i explain all the bad things about the people in my way. I don't want to succeed in that way i rather work my way up by showing all my positives and them liking me because of how good i do and not how bad the other person is.

1st of all, I have to say that that song was really catchy! Hahahaha. I like how this is trying to make a bad name for Meg Whitman by trying to brainwash the audience with a nice catchy music video. But I think all kinds of ad's that attack the other candidate is very dirty. I don't think that Brown endorsed this video because it did not say that it was endorsed or paid for by him. I remember that one of the laws state that all candidates must say if they take any part in ads. I believe that this video will eventually get banned for people to see and never make it to the television.

Awesome find!! Even though this video is quite comical and catch, I am just amazed at how much candidates attack each other. On another note, great way to tie this back to what we've learned in class these past two weeks. About the election in general, it will be really interesting to see how it all unfolds in the next few weeks, and in particular Election Day. It will also be quite interesting to see how well both candidates do in the Election Day polls. In particular, it will be interesting to see if Whitman's recent events have any influence on how well she does by the end of this election season.

In regards to candidates attacking each other, I think its important to realize the fact that Jerry Brown did not approve this video. This is actually not an example of candidates being way to focused on the negatives of their opponents rather than the positives of themselves since neither candidate endorsed this ad. There are, however, unfortunately countless advertisements out there that are approved by both Brown and Whitman that primarily just focus on the weaknesses and faults of their opponents.
