Follow up on NY same-sex marriages

Well i had apparently had too much of an optimistic attitude before. The bill that had been passed in one chamber already three times and while the mayor was already ready to sign the bill, got defeated by 14 votes, 38 to 24. With NY being such a liberal state I believed that this bill would pass with little resistance, but now the protesters are parting because of their victory. Though I am sad, and a little angry, that this bill didn't pass, this is what sometimes happens in our democracy.
