Moscow Subway Kills Dozens

Though the cause of the blasts were ambiguous, there were two huge explosions affecting two Moscow subways today during rush hour. The Russian agencies suspect that the explosions were caused by two suicide bombers yet nothing is clear... The explosions were forty minutes apart according to the New York Times, and thirty minutes apart according to CNN. Approximately a little less than 45 people were killed and many more injured. This is one of several attacks on Russia's subway system, one of the world's most extensive. There have been three only in the past decade all of which had high casualties.

I wonder why anyone would want to kill so many people in Russia. Was this related to middle-eastern terrorist groups or was this some other group altogether?

It was people from Chechnya that bombed the subway. the presumed reason is that Chechnyan separatists want to seperate from the rest of Russia and this is their effort to express this. its really sad that that expression had to end the lives of many innocent people.

As much as we can all boo-hoo at these incidents, we need to allow other nations to grow the way USA has grown. Civil War, Native American genocide, and the Great Depression have matured America as a nation. Without these incidents and casualties, we could not have obtained the prosperity that we have now.

Personally, I think experience is the base of all maturity. Sooner or later, the Chechnyan's will have to learn what it takes to be a nation. I guess this post is solely subjective due to my existentialist ideas, but whatever.

I guess its true that experience can be a base for maturity, but it sounds kind of harsh....

Anyways, here is a follow up article on the same topic from the New York times if anyone wanted to read up on it.

Kind of harsh?

The Trail of Tears is harsh. The American Civil War is harsh. Two nuclear bombs is harsh. This subway bombing is just a baby step for the nation.

The follow up article is nice, it clarifies the incident and suggests future actions. We'll see what Russia actually does.
