The Latest Polls

With elections literally hours away, most people have finally chosen their favored candidate. As the campaign continues in full swing for both parties, some people have claimed to still be undecided. About 4% (says the most recent Gallup poll) are still weighing the pros and cons of both candidates and probably won't decide until tomorrow in the polling booth. But as for now, the current standards leave Obama at 53% and McCain at 40% of the registered voters.

Gallup has predicted that Obama will win the general election in 2008, and they've only been wrong twice since they started polling in the late 1930s. Things look good for Obama, who currently holds the vote of about 83% of all non-white voters. McCain might have a slight lead in non-white votes (51%-44%), but Obama's lead is now more significant because of the increase in non-white registration this election.

Although the polls have been released, and Gallup has picked it's candidate, things are still up in the air--things could always change. We will only know for sure (hopefully) tomorrow night so in the mean time, get some sleep and remember to vote tomorrow (if you can). Have fun, poll workers. :)

I was talking to my cousin today and he said that his one vote is not going to change the outcome of Obama winning California. And I just thought to myself, if all Obama supporters thought like that, since the polls show that Obama will most likely win, McCain might actually be able to catch up. And I really hope people don't think like that because as we saw in the 2000 election, those single little votes can make all the difference. So i guess even though polls show Obama winning, it can't be for sure until votes are counted, and unless all registered voters VOTE.

Personally I think Obama has this in the bag. I'm pretty sure that many voters have learned from 2000, and I bet voter turnout for such a crucial election as this one will be high. The margin by which Obama is winning according to the polls is so high; the chance that McCain can pull through is pretty much non-existent.

I do not think that voter turnout this election will be low at all. I mean there is so much hype about early voting and many people have already voted as it is. Tomorrow is going to be big and i think we will see a huge increase from the 2000 General Election where nearly half the country voted. Well according to the post I think Obama will win and hopefully he does but I personally can not feel 100% sure he will win. Who knows what McCain could possibly pull off, I have noticed that he has been working hard in these last two weeks and more power to him. All I have to say is that good luck to both candidates and go out and vote if u can.

Though Obama is leading by a fairly comfortable margin with a few key states going Republican this race could be pretty close, and this race is also very dependent on the new and young voters coming to the polls. That said, i just checked fivethirtyeight.com and they are currently giving McCain a 1.9% chance of winning, down from 3.7 earlier in the day.

The New York Times has a really good video that details the journey of the race for the White House that I think would be worth your time to watch: Choosing a President

*sigh* As much as I hate to say this, but I guess I have to admit that it is likely for Obama to win the election. Oh well, at least I'm looking forward to Palin in 2012.

Hopefully voter turnout will be much better this year, because while most of the polls usually question adults with a telephone line, many of the people interviewed might not even be registered voters. If the voter turnout does increase dramatically this year (unlikely, but possible), McCain could close the gap.

Interesting how 3rd party candidates are so weak this year. Still, Ralph Nader might gets some votes, who knows.

i am a supporter of Obama...but i also feel that being a "Obama Fan" has become a trend. it seems to be cool to be FOR Obama...kind of like back in the 60's when supporting Kennedy was the " in " thing to do. seeing that poll makes me happy but it also seems too good to be true...you never know whats going to happen: al gore and bush.

lets hope for the best tomorrow! er..today. ahah since its almost 2 am..i guess its technically ALREADY NOVEMBER 4TH!!!! tuesddayyy!
