gobble, gobble, gobble

With thanksgiving coming and this week having been such a bleak news week, I thought I would end my blogging week with a bit of comedy...unless of course you are a turkey. As Sarah Palin was giving an interview after the traditional governor's turkey pardon, she talked about the state of Alaska, her agenda and energy, oblivious to the fact that turkeys were being slaughtered behind her. While I am not sure whether this was her fault or an aids fault, it certainly wasn't a pretty picture. Anytime the news commentator has to come on and tell viewers that they might want to turn off the TV because of carnage, I definitely don't think you want to be the oblivious governor in the front of that screen shot.

it doesnt really look like this was an interveiw for a major news company like cnn or fox so its not really a big deal. its probaly a local news group in a part of alaska that doesnt think its a big deal. alaskas a rugged state where most people aren't botherd by how we get our food. alot different then people in california. i dont this will hurt her image.

The interview did not look that bad. Although the turkey in the background was distracting. I don't think anyone really can listen to what she is trying to say. I feel sorry for the turkey though.

1. Poor turkey.

2. This is probably why some people are vegetarians.

3. The Media is out to get her.

I was almost done with the video when I realized that...well... I hadn't really heard anything Palin said. The turkey/person/machine thing in the background had kept my attention for most of the interview. The interview itself (background aside) wasn't so bad and she seemed more casual and less stressed now that the election is over.

But that's Alaska for ya. When my family vacationed there, we saw... well... a lot. Tons of hunters up there. This probably wouldn't hurt her image in her own state although people from other states may be a little bothered by it. Our guide had told us that he had once accidentally hit/killed a Caribou (or maybe some deer/smaller animal?) with his car... and that's what his family ate for the next few weeks...

When i was watching the interview all i saw was the guy in the background and the turkies. They are pretty much the center of attention. At first it seemed as though the guy was unshure of what to do.

What distrubed me the most was not that the man behind Palin was killing the turkeys, but that he would stare straight into the camera for a while every minute or so. Although it doesn't have a direct effect on Palin's interview, it definitely will bother viewers at home with those creepy, creepy eyes.

As for the interview itself, Palin spoke well compared to her previous interviews. I suppose now that the election is over, a lot of pressure and burden has been lifted off her, which noticeably improves her public speaking. It's good that she decided to help promote small businesses and help her local Alaskans, but next time maybe she should be holding her interviews at a dairy farm or something.

Awww poor turkeys. I was watching the video, and when I got about halfway through, I realized I hadn't heard anything Palin said. All I focused on were the turkeys and creepy man in the background. I restarted it and listened to it again, and she spoke well. She did a good job in this interview, probably because, like Kelvin said, a lot of the pressure is off her now. She seems more comfortable speaking in her hometown, an evironment she's familiar with. It's surprising how much media attention she is still getting after the election. I wonder if Palin was aware of what was going on behind her while she spoke and if the reporter intentionally set it up that way or not. I'd hate to be an Alaskan turkey right now.

After running for VICE PRESIDENT of this country she says: "there are so many great americans who are just desiring of their government to kinda get out of the way". Really? so she's an anarchist is she? was she planning on getting herself elected and then sitting back and "getting out of the way" so people can do wahtever they want? she doesnt even THINK what shes saying!!!

let this be a lesson to all, think before you speak, think a LOT if you need to, of better yet, just dont speak!

and yes i noticed the turkeys before i even read alys comment, and the guy was totally listening in you could tell..

What a dumb move on the part of the tv crew and Palin. Maybe the crew just wanted to get shots of them working in the background, but in front of that thing? Maybe it's normal for people up there to be exposed to this stuff, but I think most people find it quite unappetizing. It's just such an odd thing to have behind a governor while doing a newscast and to have that worker there with blood on his pants and blood all over that thing. I'm starting to think that it was staged, because the shot of the turkey slaughter seemed almost too perfect. The guy was completely in the shot and kept turning around to look directly into the camera.

The funniest part though is when she says: "It's nice to get out and do something to promote a local business [guy in background looks away from the turkey for a second and over at her and then nods and goes back to his business] and to just participate in something that isn't so heavy-handed politics that invites criticism. Certainly we'll probably even invite criticism for doing this too, but at least this was fun."

I actually found this video quite humorous. Alaska! the land of oppertunity! My mom cooks turkey too, but I bet she cooks it better than Sarah Palin. :) Anyways, I thought it was a pleasant interview with her, just showing her as an average citizen enjoying the holidays and appreciating her friends and family.

Sarah Palin is a good speaker when you do not actually listen to what she is saying. However, when I heard what she had to say about her plans for running Alaska, I was struck by how little she seems to know about oil prices at the moment. I also disagree that the government needs to step aside in order to fix the economic crisis. If anything, more government involvement is needed; the crisis is a result of government inaction.

I feel sorry for Palin because she makes a fool of herself by trying to act knowledgeable about things she knows very little about. I am looking forward to the time when Palin once again returns to obscurity in Alaska: the media will be able to focus on more important issues (besides the economy), and she has had enough embarrassment to last a lifetime.

it was kinda funny or gross (however you see it) that there is a kinda nerdy looking dude in the background staring at the camera with a turkey going crazy.

WHy of all places would she choose to get an interview about one's agenda? Like honestly, it's not like she is the vice president or something, i'm sure she can take a cab to her office and then give a serious interview. And like, what the hell was with that guy in the background, they could have asked him to stop for a few minutes i mean geez!! Like, "oh i just pardoned a turkey so now listen to me in front of the other turkeys who didn't get pardoned and are going to die. Maybe the press is to hard on her but seriously, did no one notice what was happening behind her?

this was so funny i honestly did not pay attention to anything that she said, all i did was concentrate on the turkey machine, and now i feel kinda bad about eating turkey, but seriously what was she thinking about when she gave that interview in front of the turkey machine. i dont think that this will hurt her reputation anymore than it already is. also people see what they want to see the people that dondt like her will just laugh at this, and the people that do like her will not let a badly placed interview change their opinion of her.

I feel like they intentionally tried to make her look bad but the interview itself was mild and she presented herself well. And as everyone else seemed to say yes the turkeys being slaughterd were so distracting. Probably the worst place you could ever have an interview.
