Reunited once again

The baseball league was stunned to learn that Monday night, one of the most powerful and solid left-handed pitcher's in the league, Cliff Lee, accepted a $120 million offer from the Philadelphia Phillies. Lee was also sought by the prestigious New York Yankees who offered him a $150 million offer for 7 years but were stumped when he turned down the offer. In addition, the Texas Rangers, the team which Lee left, wanted him to stay on the team for a longer time but he declined. Based on this decision, Lee was not after the money, but was after the team that won the World Series in 2008 and relive the memories. With him on the Phillies, their starting rotation may seem unstoppable with a lineup of Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt, Cole Hamels, and Cliff Lee. All in all, was Lee's decision a wise one? Do the Phillies seem like the "Dream Team" of baseball? Is this a new era of pitching for the MLB?

Is it just me, or does it feel weird that such a great pitcher has bounced around among so many teams so many times the past few years? I think its just one of those things where Lee is just looking for the best situation to win a Championship. And by the way Josh, for such a "Dream Team" they sure weren't looking that great against a team of misfits that probably earn half their salaries. For all we know, this could just be the Miami Heat of the MLB . . . and just to throw this in
SF Giants >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Philadelphia Phillies . . .

HAHAHA Thank you for reassuring the Giants are better than the Phillies Joe. No really, we're so much better than them *Ahem* 2010 World Series Champions :) Anyway, I agree with you Joe that Lee indeed wants another World Series title and he'll definitely get it with any team and any salary.

Possible that this line up is one of the best in the HISTORY of baseball. Guys you I am a Giants fan yes but really? Every single team in the MLB would die for anyone of the four pitchers the Phillies have. Also Miami Heat of the MLB I think not lol because its not like these guys have to actually play together. Either way it will look to be a great MLB season this year with Boston stocked up on hitting in the offseason to counter act the NL's wealth of pitching talent. I'm looking forward to it!

Um, Ross? I'm pretty sure every single team in the MLB would die for a rotation that included Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, and a budding Madison Bumgarner as well. I'm juss sayin' . . .

The Phillies 4 man rotation is better then the Giants 4 man rotation >.<

I hate to say this, but I hope Lee becomes the next Barry Zito.

Actually I rather enjoyed saying that. If Zito returns to form, I'd expect to see the Giants and Phillies back in the NCLS.

Possible that this line up is one of the best in the HISTORY of baseball<-----ross is on to something. this is such a huge advantage, every night of the season for them to have the strongest starting lineup of our era. and baseball is much more an individual accomplishment sport, where as weve seen that aligning stars in other cities (ehmmm miami heat) does not work. i think this rotation will turn around and dominate the league next year, and ill even predict a dominating world series win. sorry gigantes :(

First of all, I apologize for commenting during winter break; Josh had mentioned that he had posted about the Giants, and I absolutely HAD to check it out!

I agree with Joe. We beat Lee (2), Halladay, Hamels, and Oswalt in the postseason. Our starting rotation and AMAZING relief is definitely a formidable challenge to any team. We may not have as much brand name value as the Phillies or even the Yankees, but our pitching staff is nothing to scoff at.

Unfortunately, I don't see Zito returning to any real form anytime in the near future. I just really hope that Runzler is really as good as he is made out to be, and maybe we could platoon him as a starter with Zito and use him for long relief in Zito's starts otherwise (something that we'll need a lot of).

Also, I wish that Lee had gone to the Yankees. Considering how loaded the Red Sox are with Crawford and Gonzales, a stacked Yankees squad would have led to some of the best intra-division play in recent times!
