Denver Broncos fire head coach

Josh McDaniels, the head coach of the Denver Broncos, was fired yesterday after one of his staff members filmed their opponent, the San Francisco 49er's before their match. In addition, McDaniels was fined $50,000 along with each member of the team. However, McDaniels didn't actually view the videotape, and the team along with the league didn't know about it until a month later. To add more humiliation, the Broncos lost to the 49er's last month 10-6. The staff member who videotaped the 49er's did get fired, but I personally think that the treatment McDainels received was unneccesary. The fact that he didn't view the tape should exclude him from punishment. What do you guys think? Did the NFL make the correct move by firing both McDaniels along with the staff member?

He got fired because his team is playing like crap. It's just like everything else in life, if you cant perform then you get cut.

McDaniels' treatment was absolutely necessary. Even though he did not view the tape, he had the intent to cheat, and that is punishable in itself. For example, if a student steals the answer key to a test, but did not yet have a chance to look at the answers before he got caught, does he not deserve punishment? McDaniels' case is the same, and the punishment was definitely warranted.

The firing of McDaniels had to do with everything he did. As a coach of the Denver Broncos he acted like a child feuding with players, coaches, assistants, and officials on top of the fact that he performed poorly as a coach. There wasn't one situation in his 2 years as coach that showed him being mature and taking the high road or accepting responsibility. The situation with the tape he may or may not have viewed (he wasn't punished because the NFL couldn't prove he did not cause he didn't) is just an end to his long list of immature actions.

I think McDaniels deserves to be fired. If he was the one who ordered or allowed the staff to film, then there's all the more reason for him to be fired. If he hadn't known about the situation, was offered the tape and then chose not to view it, then he still should have been fired. It's his lack of judgment and leadership and he has to pay for that.

Josh McDaniels would condone this kind of behavior. Before McDaniels left he Patriots he was given a 'coaching hand book'. If any NFL fans remember Belichick's who ordeal with taping the New York Jets' defensive signals on the field. Since McDaniels aimed to emulate Belichick as a head coach I think it was fair that the league make an example of him by firing him as to show others that any kind of cheating will not be tolerated.

I don't think he should of gotten fired for the tape, that is a bit ridiculous, there is probably and underlying reason of why he got fired. Like cris said he got fired because his team was performing poorly. I am also surprised that not one of the staff members or players said something about taping the 49ers, not all of them could of thought that it was a good idea.
