Who Has the Upper Hand?

As the presidential debates rapidly approach, there has been much discussion over who currently has the upper hand in the election. According to a CNN Article and a Gallup poll, the race is just as close as it was before the party conventions. However, when broken down into issues, Obama has the lead when it comes to domestic problems (Healthcare and Education) and Romney has the upper hand on unemployment and deficit matters. Obama has a higher overall popularity rating as well; in comparison to Romney's approval ratings have slightly decreased since the conventions.

One thing holds true, the upcoming debates should finally begin to give some perspective of who truly has the advantage going into the election. The question that remains is how will the candidates respond to the weak parts of their campaigns. Romney must address Medicare and Healthcare and Obama needs to address unemployment and deficit matters.

The upcoming debates should indeed give us a better look at what people think of the two candidates. I do wonder whether or not people's opinions will change after the debates occur. It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks.

I think that it has come to a point that the debates are pretty well prepared for and there will be less shocking statements. I believe there will actually be very few surprises in the upcoming debates. I think it is good that the debates will force the candidates to take more definite stances. I think the debates will help to sway people who are in the middle of Obama and Romney and we will get a more clear view of the race.

After watching the debates, I have to say that i was surprised by the performances. Romney seemed far more prepared than Obama and I think that the debate could have swung some voters. I definately think Obama was far ahead of Romney beforehand, but his poor performance tonight could not have been a very good thing for him.
