No Gunman Found at Oakland School
Today, 250 students evacuated from La Escuelita Elementary School in Oakland after the school received a phone call saying that there was a gunman in the school. The man who tipped the school identified himself as a custodian but would not reveal more information about who he was.
The Oakland SWAT team, school district police officers, deputies, and more went to the school to safely evacuate the students from the school and find the gunman. Luckily, there was no gunman in the school; at this point, it has been assumed that the caller purposely played a prank on the school.
I'm glad that everyone is safe, but the person who played the prank on everyone needs to be caught. Because of the prank call, many of the city's resources that could have been used for a real event that lives were put in danger were used and wasted. In addition, that one call caused the parents of students to worry and leave work just to pick up their kids when they wouldn't have to do such a thing if nobody claimed that a gunman entered the school. I find it very inconsiderate of the caller to make such an outrageous claim; people should never joke about something as serious as this.

People have just become disgusting now a days. Why would any man call up an elementary school and lie about a gunman being on the campus? This is just childish and i would expect that more from the students that go there then a grown man. However, this may have been a distraction for something more serious going on around Oakland that was not caught on about because a large amount of police, SWAT team members, officers, deputies, and more were at the school. I feel the cops should just make sure that nothing larger was going on but missed because everyone was at the school. I know not every cop was at the school but there was a large amount for something that turned out to be a joke.
I agree completely with you, Eunice, that this kind of prank is not funny at all. The school almost has no choice but to react the way they did, though, in light of recent school shootings (there was one earlier this month) and the truly tragic ones, such as Virginia Tech. I hope the school and community remain careful, though, because it's possible that the caller did have an ulterior motive.
that kid in the photo looks like my cousin ralphy in the philippines... mangg.....scary thought. he barely in school.
dont this guy something else better to do... like find a life and get a job?! that is wrong on soooo many levels... if i was the parents of them kids, i'd be hunting for the guy!!!!
I can't believe someone is cruel and stupid enough to do something like this. Just like you said on your post, resources were misused when they could've been used for a REAL situation in which people were actually in danger. I really hope the person who thought this was funny gets caught because he/she caused a big problem which could have been avoided. This person deserves to be punished for his/her prank.
