China's President Arrives In the US

China's current president, Hu Jintao has landed on the US for a four day visit to talk about economic issues and trade disputes with President Obama. The two presidents will also be discussing North Korea's nuclear activities. Obama will host a private dinner for Mr. Hu on Tuesday night and his visit will continue with talks on Wednesday in the Oval Office. According to China's foreign ministry, this visit by Mr. Hu is "an important one". Spokesman, Hong Lei says, "We hope the visit will promote positive and co-operative China-US relations, map out new directions for bilateral relations in the new era and raise co-operation to a new level". Mr. Hu has questioned the function of the US dollar as the world's reserve currency; he also critized the US monetary policy, saying that by keeping the interest rates low, then the Federal Reserve is decreasing the value of the dollar and creating inflation in other places. Personally, I think that this is an important visit that China's president is making because it will allow the two nations to discuss a variety of issues that is affecting both states. Hopefully, good outcomes and positive feedback will result from this visit.

What do you guys think about President Hu's visit to the US? Do you expect anything positive to come out of this visit? How important do you think this visit really is?

I find that the leaders of other countries should always have meetings once in a while to discuss topics and touch all the bases of what is going on. Also, this meeting between China's president and our president will update us on any information that is going on over in North Korea and also to make sure that China is keeping up with their agreements on everything.

I hope there will end up to be a beneficial result for both the countries. It's good to see the countries working together and to see better international relations. I think just bettering relations can do wonders. They can cooperate, set deals, compromises that will help both countries. It can help lead to better economic relations too and like what Christian said, help discuss the matter of North Korea.

I think this visit is very important. It can either get rid of any tensions we have against each other with China or even build tensions. I think this visit will also be more about the economy and trade relations more han anything else. I think it is important to have good trade relations with China because we get a lot of our things from them. We relly on them for many of the cheap things we recieve everyday. I also think that they will talk about a plan just incase North Korea decides to do anything very dumb.
