While you may not have heard of Hatsune Miku, you've most likely heard one of her songs. She is a voice synthesizer program created by Crypton Future Media using Yamaha's Vocaloid2 technology to create songs. She is probably the greatest computer program ever made, showing how far technological advancements have come, thanks to Japan. The world is becoming a better place, where even average people can become pop stars. Hundreds of people have become amateur artists, creating songs rivaling and sometimes even exceeding the quality of many "professional" artists. On the popular Japanese video sharing site, Nico Nico Douga, there are thousands of songs and music videos created with Hatsune Miku from metal,to pop and techno. Over iTunes, many of these amateurs have sold hundreds thousands of copies of their songs and are spreading the culture over to the West.

Is anyone else thinking "1984" song synthesizers? In general I feel that this technology is a continuation of societal trends. You have fake realities found in the digital world, plastic faces, Astroturf, and now fake voices. Generally there is a lot of fabrication and synthesis which is supposedly better that what is naturally possible. I don't know... Maybe its a comment on how what is natural maybe isn't that special after all... *has an existential crisis*

I can see where you're coming from cause I partially agree with it but I wouldn't say that the natural world isn't special. It is. I mean, you can't fabricate true love or a real birth. I think that it's just that the natural world is trying to make use of what it's got to bring something new to society. Mankind is trying to make use of technology and what its created in the past to bring something new to help further along society and make life easier or more entertaining. :]

I Like It very much!!! I have heard mixes using this technology and many different variations when i relized these things were related i was suprised that you could do som much with one program :)
