Palin in Foreign Policy

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0909/Palin_presses_White_House_on_Afghanistan.html

Sarah Palin. Most likely the first thoughts about her would be her inept stupidity. Notably, how she thought that Afghanistan was a neighboring country. Amazingly Palin is able to string together something competent about foreign policy in Afghanistan in a speech yesterday. Imagine that! Surprisingly, she actually makes some decent points about how we should go into Afghanistan rather than stay in Iraq. "Iraq is no longer the central front in the war on terrorism. Afghanistan is. ".... But when did she learn foreign policy? She can hardly manage a state. And where was this speech when Bush was in office. Looks like another case of band-wagoning when things look good. I'm pretty sure everyone thinks that we 'ought to get out of Iraq, not much to restate the obvious Palin.

It is pretty clear that her speech was written by someone else. Of course many politicians do this, but nor was she prepared to take questions, either. As to the substance of the speech, the arguments came out fairly clearly, there were a few good points here and there, but was still far too much like reheated neoconservative boilerplate for my tastes. I'll take Obama at the UN over Palin getting paid in China any day.

Gahh I just got done with the other post on this! People seem to be hammering on Palin for foreign policy and lack of experience when we have arguably our least experienced president ever. You realize he was only a senator for a little over 3 years? As for both Weilu and Amanda's skepticism on why she is talking about this...she's still a politican...that's what they do. Even if Palin doesn't ever run for office again she will still make speeches about various issues because that's her job.

Silton: This isn't a popularity contest, you can't just pick Obama :D. Reheated arguments? All of these slight insults about experience, speeches, recycling material, everything is so broad they apply to 95% of all politicians. Most of these jibes are just because people dislike Palin and not at all relevant to this speech.

In response to Anders-

Palin's speech clearly indicated her some degree of her ineptitude (response to questions), as do many of her speeches. People are "hammering" on her due to the way she conveys herself. Although "slight insults about experience, speeches, recycling material, everything is so broad they apply to 95% of all politicians", Palin's degree of incompetence is still very far from these 95% of politicans. Obama, on the other hand, knows what he is talking about and can handle the scene in which she's trying to enter. Obama's popularity is present for a reason and people don't just "pick" Obama, especially when he is compared to Palin.

Of course he's popular because he's a democrat. My point about picking was meant at Silton because he'd rather just "pick" Obama's speech to listen to which I was just making a little fun of as being silly to only listening to the people you like. Maybe she has made more mistakes than other people but I'd argue if she was a democrat you wouldn't be gunning for her at all. The argument is actually easy to prove considering across the aisle Biden made so many mistakes in his speeches he actually stopped giving speeches leading up to the election because he was doing more harm than good. Anyway these two posts are just jumping on the democratic hate bandwagon and even when she does something both posters said was positive they merely spin it into a negative. Heh what are you gonna do?

If she was a democrat she'd firstly have a different ideology, so obviously. I'm sorry but someone who updates their Facebook status only to criticize the president is definitely not going to be my favorite politician regardless.
