"Mexico: The Next Iraq or Afghanistan?"

After the announcement of the $700 million plan that Obama tends to initiate, Mexico has risen up and became more rebellious than before. They prepare themselves against the government and are armed with lethal weapons along with guerilla tactics and car bombings. In the past, Mexico has been notified to have numerous amounts of drug cartels.

It also has been known that more people are heading towards to become rebels and starting Civil Anarchy across the country. As the increase of drug dealings and riots, Mexico may have seemed to become a possible threat to the United States. The illegal attempt in immigration were more than enough of a burden, despite the fact that anarchy may be set in motion as well. It is even sad to say that the weapons of those that were purchased, were actually bought from the US. Millions of dollars are also provided for the law enforcement to maintain chaos, yet it may still not be enough to bring down the terrorism that Mexico can inflict upon this country, after all even helicopter patrols have already been sent during the Bush administration to prevent such malice threats .

Lauren C. Strojny- why now? why would we send money to the problem? For all we know the government and their police could be corrupt. Seems resonable considering drug lords have been getting away with imports into the US for so long. Obama in his live update of his plan for the US today he said, that Mexico has a problem importing illegal drugs, but the US is also illegally importing weapons. Its a cycle thats needs to stop, but not now. Obama has enough on his plate with the failing economy and a war overseas. The last thing we need is a backyard war. Lets put small efforts to keep us out of Mexico, and when we have settled some of our other issues we can focus more attention on Mexico. I think if we went in to help stop forces in Mexico it would be a lot worse than Iraq or afganistan. America houses illegal immigrants from Mexico and not to mention that they are right across a land border.

Personally I do not see Mexican rebels as being much of a terrorist threat to the US.From what I have read, currently most of the rebels are tied to the drug trade and the battles are between the drug gangs and the police and it does not make an abundance of sense for Mexican drug producers to be killing off their potential American customers. Though a comparison could be made between some terrorist groups using opium production to finance their action it seems to be that this situation is separated from that one because in the former terrorism led to the drugs while in the Mexico situation it would be the drugs leading to terrorism.

I honestly think Mexicos problems should not be ours. i know its hard to think that concidering we are housing their illegal immigrants but the drugs are another thing. we should not intervene in mexico until they decide to pick a fight with us. and the person below me is right. This cycle is continuous and we are doing corrupt things just as much as mexico. i think that this chaos can stop if we just stop making our borders loose and letting illegals in. We are bringing ourselves into their problems by inviting them into our country. No hard feelings for these people but as a country it is irresponsible.
