American Workers v. Foreign Workers (H1B)
Microsoft was considering firing foreign workers over American workers as a result of the economic recession. Though this will not happen, it has sparked a controversy on shows such as Squawk on the Street. I personally think that this is a wrong approach to fire these people during a recession. Some of the foreign workers have MBA's and probably some perform better then Americans. I think they should fire incompetant workers instead of targetting foreigners. It is just wrong because the White americans are still technically foreigners too, they came from Europe. "Immigrants" against immigrants much like other trends that the US faces. What do you guys think of policy like this in companies?

Although I agree that the most competent employee should remain employed, I do value an attempt to keep as many Americans employed as possible. Yes technically someone in all of our families was once an immigrant, but most of those working and living in America are now considered Americans and did not come here from a foreign country nor do they live in a foreign country. I do believe that, especially during strenuous economic times, when deciding which of two employees, having similar educational backgrounds and experience, should be fired, that an American citizen should receive preference over a foreign employee.
