Obama's ratings in final days of being president elect

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#28662967

According to the news reported by White House correspondent, Chuck Todd, Obama is practically loved the majority of the United States. Obama's policy is very much agreed with, but some people like Obama even though they disagree with his politics. Obama's ratings coming into his presidency is higher than both the Bush's ratings at their inauguration several years ago. Polls also show that the majority of the people agree with the bailout plan, but 74% still believe that the recession will continue on for one year or more.

So what do you think? Do you agree with Obama on his policies and politics? Do you think that the bailout plan is good and will the recession cease within a year?

I think that Obama's growing popularity will definately be an positive impact on his plans for the country.

One thing I recently noticed in Obama's nominations that was overlooked by many was that his recent Attorney-General appointee, Eric Holder. Not knowing anything about him, I read up on him and he seems like a perfect fit, which causes me to question: why wasn't he the AG to begin with? He plans to take the "war on terroism" into a new route, one not so forceful (as seen in the Bush administration), but still effective nonetheless. Some, however, critize his tatics, and how Holder may be "too soft" for this position, but in my opinion, Obama made yet another good choice even before being sworn in.

I agree with you Michael Alan Donath, I think that Eric Holder was a good pick by Obama. I like the fact that he greatly disagrees with Dick Cheney about using the "waterboard" method in the CIA. Personally, I believe that "waterboarding" should not be used when interrogating possible criminals. I feel confidant that he will be able to do a good job because he was already Deputy Attorney General when Clinton was President. I also like how Holder favors closing the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. I also like how he is opposed to the Bush administration's implementation of the Patriot Act. Ultimately, I think Holder will bring a drastic change to the White House, one that it needs.

True that, Ana "Elizabeth" Curran. I was also thinking, apart from his huge popularity because of his great apointments, Obama has a bunch of other things going for him. I was looking through the Election 2008 section of the Onion (because I'm extremely excited for the upcoming Inauguration) and found this Onion Radio Clip labeled "Lazy Nation Fears Obama Will Create Millions of Jobs." Funny, right? So not only does Obama appoint great Attorney Generals, but he also strikes fear in to the hearts of millions of lazy American job-less bums.

Haha that radio sound bite from the Onion was pretty funny Michael Alan Donath. After i heard the radio sound bite i discovered this article on the Onion titled "Bush Spends Day Feverishly Booby-Trapping Desk", and it got me thinking about how Bush is probably doing a lot of things to sabotage Obama. For instance, Mr. Silton in class today was talking about how Bush and his allies were picking Republicans with their same ideals to fill empty spots. I also bet that Bush is writing several executive orders to mess with Obama like Clinton did with Bush before. Hopefully, these "hindrances" Bush is doing will not
stop Obama from implementing his game plan. Too bad we can't all get along.

Here is the website for my Onion article if anyone wants to see it.

yay! go obama. I agree with Michael Donath, in that I think the fact the the American people love him, will definitely give Obama a advantage. (Also, simply comared to Bush, Obama look so great right now). I do agree with the bailout plans, I mean yes there are flaws here and there, but what plan doesn't? The recession won't end just like that, just as it took time to build up, it will take time to die down, so I am with that 74% that believe that the recession will continue on for one year or more. Hopefully, Obama will make that one year and not more.

hahaha. I actually found these ratings kind of surprising. Maybe it's because I haven't been exactly tuned into polls recently, but I know that some of Obama's initial appointments were disconcerting to Republicans and Democrats. I think that Obama is going to have a lot to live up to. During the campaign, you couldn't find a single Obama sticker or ad without the word "change" attached to it. And with his first few appointments of people that worked with the Clinton administration, Obama was already fighting off claims that he was providing little to no change. I am however looking forward to the inauguration next week and am interested to see what Obama's first move as president will be. Then again, I can understand why ratings would be high. Obama really did win the election, practically as a landslide (thank you Mrs. Palin), so he had high support from the get-go. I guess we'll just have to see what he does next. In terms of the bailout, it's hard to tell what is going to happen. I don't think that we're going to be able to fix our economy in our year, because our problems have been built up for many years and it's not going to take such a short amount of time to get us out of this problem. Whatever Obama does, he's probably going to piss some people off. And since the American people have some high expectations, I have a feeling that Obama's approval rating will drop significantly sooner or later.
