Is Sarah Palin Hiding From the Media?

Compared to Joe Biden, Sarah Palin has done less interviews with the media. Interviews that she has done with the media have turned out disastrous, most notably here interview with Katie Couric (it looked like she was even reading notes when she was answering the questions...heres a clip of the interview if you missed it). Sarah Palin has failed to hold a major press conference which makes me question if she has something to hide or if she isn't prepared. As a potential Vice President of the US it makes me uneasy that she is so recluse from the media. The media has been extremely harsh on Sarah Palin, making fun of her for her claims on foreign policy and other comments she has made, so i understand if she is reluctant to talk to the media. However, I think that it is in her best interest to get more involved in the media after she has been given some time to learn about some issues in the US like the Bush Doctrine to try and prove to everyone that she is a good candidate for the VP. Maybe the VP debates coming up will giver her a chance to prover herself, but it could also be a chance for her to further prove to everyone that she is not prepared to be VP of the US. Either way I think that Biden has a difficult task in the VP debate. I think that he will have to be extremely careful not to come off as sexist or pompous.

Palin has done far fewer interviews that Biden has, yet ironically she seems to still appear far more frequently in the media. True the media has been harsh on Palin but I think that's because she is just making their jobs so much easier, giving the media plenty of mistakes/etc to use as material...
With Palin's disastrous interviews I'm excited to see how she fares in the upcoming 10/2 VP debate...

I too am excitedly anticipating the upcoming V.P. debate, and i totaly agree with what was said in this blog. While yes, Palin has her work cut out for her in this debate, I think that Biden may have a tougher time of things. Biden is in a lose-lose situation. If he appears on this debate and completly wipes the floor with Palin, people will accuse him of cruelty and taking cheap shots. If he does poorly against her, then he couldn't match a Governor from Alaska who couldn't handle Katie Couric. He is going to have to handle the debate with the utmost care. No one likes the team that runs up the scoreboard, and no one will apreciate Biden slaughtering Palin.

If my name was Sarah Palin, I would hide too. I tend to support democratic candidates because of republicans like Palin. She is an embarrassment to her party and to politics in general. However, I agree with Jeff's observation about Palin getting far more media attention that Biden, maybe Palin's intellectual short comings are working to her advantage. This situation reminds me of Jessica Simpson's tuna/chicken confusion and in that case Simpson's stupidity worked to her advantage, earning her thousands of dollars. Like Simpson, Sarah Palin is certainly building a reputation for herself, I just am not sure if politics is the proper arena for her, maybe she should make the transition to reality TV. She should fit in quite nicely there. I have already spotted her in the pages of US weekly in the "star sightings" section embracing her daughter. Palin's in good company though, I am almost certain Paris Hilton was featured in the same issue. In all fairness, Palin does have an audience, there are people in this country that support her and value her opinion. It will be interesting to see how many Palin empathizers actually exist. In my opinion however, Palin is only hurting McCain’s chances of winning the election. But I guess we’ll find out just how much in November.

I think it's a little too late for Palin to prove herself as a good candidate, because her cluelessness on the bush doctrine on ABC is really embarrassing and there's no way people will be ignoring that. But I agree with you that Biden might not have such an easy time on his debate. Never underestimate an opponent, especially when it's Sarah Palin who managed to snag VP from under everyone's noses.

I bet she hides on purpose. If the Republican party were a family, shes the little kid doing something embarrassing that you walk a few steps behind.
