Show thrown at Bush

Ok, since Colby asked and my shift as poster is over, I'll post this strange video. Like, they are talking and stuff and some weirdo throws a shoe. Imagine if that connected and like put him in a coma or something. To be quite honest, while it is wrong to do so, my first response would be laughing, a lot. But it did not and it shows how there are quite a few people in Iraq who really angry (and honestly somewhat stupid) at Bush. Bush said, "Iraq and US are on solid footing" but clearly that is not the case because if you have professional journalist that pissed off, imagine how the regular folk feel. It does not seem that Iraq's relation with the US is as good as George Bush think but then again, that is all expected.

My first reaction was a burst of laughter, following with an applause to the fellow who threw the shoe. Such insane course of action and video footage, I believe if this video was televised world wide, most people would applaud, especially the Osama Bin Ladin. Due to the following proposals and regulations that President Bush had recently announced and proposed, most citizens of this nation were extremely upset and detested against his actions. All I can say is that Bush really received what he really deserved over the course of his presidency in hardly improving our country and economy.

Hope they release that fellow.

Haha, that's a pretty strange way to make a statement. And I'm quite surprised at how fast Bush reacted. But it does symbolize the hate that has accumulated for Bush during his presidential term. I'm sure the majority of Americans would be applauding the video at this point. Throwing a shoe at him seems extremely minimal compared to the devastation Bush has caused to many Americans. It seems like such an insignificant protest amidst all the problems Bush has caused for the country.

But you have to remember that throwing a shoe at a person is an extreme insult in their culture (a possible equivalent could be spitting in the face of another person here) and the fact that this one man did it may or may not say what many people in the press corps in Iraq feel about President Bush.
If anything, I believe that this video could be symbolic for how many Iraqis may feel about Americans being in their country, no matter if we believe it to be positive or not

cappWow Raj I learned something right there. I didn't know throwing a shoe was like that. I think President Bush has some good reflexes though. He dodged those shoes like it was nothing. Good job President. If throwing a shoe is really like spitting in someone's face then our President is really hated by that reporter. I hope people can give him a break after office and look at the positive aspects of his presidency because honestly ragging on Bush is getting old. I guarentee he is not even close to the worst President we have had. So give him a break please

I'm pretty sure that in some other countries throwing shoes at someone has a stronger hate tied to it than Americans would think. I'm not sure why the reporters said that Bush's only comment was that the shoe was a size 10, since this video on yahoo news has Bush talking about how the assailant was just trying to get attention. Bush seemed almost happy about having a shoe thrown at him, maybe because he thinks the reporter is free to express himself, and freedom is his supposed goal for Iraq.

Then later, I found the shoe throwing incident with sweet music to complement the action.

this was quite funny, however what surprised me the most was how fast bush is. i didnt know bush was so agile this leads me to believe that he spent his spare time boxing or doing karate in the white house. i can also understand why people still like bush. terrible president great guy, wow he turned this whole thing into a joke and thats very respectable

sorry to comment again but kennies comment was funny hahahahah I also agree with keny ok he was a bad president not the worst but i personally find it hard to hate him because bush is just so cool. during his campeign in 2000 his security drank in the back of the plane WHAT A SAV but ya this was a good representation of how much the iraqis hate him

Wait where was the secret service after the first shoe?? If i were Obama I would count my blessings if someone were to throw a shoe at me the secret service would be there first. So i think Bush gets what he deserves but I would be really embarrased that someones hatred for me has escalated so high that they result in a violent rage throwing shoes at me, unless george bush is oblivious to how many people hate him. Oh well this story is just as good as him choking on a pretzel.

HAHA oleg I'm glad you found that funny. But you spelt my name wrong. I agree though after watching that documentary of Bush, he seems like a down to earth guy that you can have a good time with. That is probably why they put him in Harold and Kumar, because he is a funny guy.

According to BBC News, Mr Muntadar Zaidi, the alleged shoe thrower, was a correspondent for a Cairo-based al-Baghdadiya TV who was kidnapped and attacked by militia in the past. Also, apparently, White House Press Secretary, Dana Perino, suffered from a slight eye injury/bruise as a result of this incident. Furthermore, in regards to the news conference, I don't understand why Bush is still fighting to continue this war in Iraq. So far all its done is cost taxpayers $576 billion dollars and leave 4,209 of our U.S. soldiers dead.

There is not much that I can say that hasn't already been said, but I am seriously impressed by Bush's ability to dodge shoes. He must have learned the five D's of dodging: Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. Or perhaps it's not unusual for people to throw shoes at him, which wouldn't be that absurd considering what an awful job he has done as president in the last couple of years. But what I am curious about is whether that reporter got his shoes back...

It is considered rude to even show someone else the sole of their shoes in their culture, so what he did is seen as a really big insult to Bush. Iraqi officials think what he did was shameful and want him to go to jail. I think Zaidi should apologize for what he did and shouldn't be punished too severely. I was surprised at how quickly Bush moved out of the way too. And to answer the person above me, I read that the shoes are being held as evidence, so he probably has not gotten his shoes back yet.

HAHA. That video mad me proud to be a middle eastern ha...Man i kinda wish bush didn't have such good dodging skills just so i could laugh a bit more. If you go on yahoo or aol to watch this video then read the comments that others post...WOW, so different then what we say. People praise bush for all his "success" i dont know where they get their information from. My parents loved this video, just thought i would add that since they are republicans, they admitted to me today that they hate bush, i was so proud of them HA.
Bush deserved it, not only has he messed it up for us, Americans, he has messed up many lives of those in the middle east. He has caused so much destruction and he doesnt even truly know...until now. That guy has some gut though.

ADDING On TO WHAT EVERYONE said abOUT how the throwing THE SHOE IS SOMEWHAT mORe SyMOLIC IN this socIety. SYMBolic of AN INSULT. the shoe representS all the fRUSTRATION anD ANger of the iRAQs of the noT SO GOOD DEcesionS ON the part of the bush and His CABinET IN regards to Iraq. it IS CLEAR THAT HIS HOSTILITY TOWARDS Bush is bECAUSE OF BUsh's prolonGED TIME IN iraq, which in MY OPINion IS NOt mAKING anYONE happy.

Like everyone said, throwing your shoe at someone is just about the worst insult you can give out to someone in the Middle Eastern culture. According to USA TODAY,
the reporter shouted in Arabic, "This is your farewell kiss, you dog!" It seems that we aren't the only ones celebrating his leave from office. I did find it weird that no one from the secret service stepped in to protect the president, even when the second shoe was thrown. In fact, the first person to restrain the reporter was someone from the White House press corps. I would think that people whose life duty is to protect the president would have slightly faster reactions.

I found it kinda funny that a few minutes after he dodged the shoes, Bush made a comment on how they were size 10's. I forgot the man had a sense of humor, but I'm glad he still has something after these past 8 years.

First off, I just want to say how funny I think this is. Bush has had it coming for a while, and I can think of several americans who would and have applauded this action, regardless of what it means in any middle eastern country. My question is this, however: Why was Bush's Iraq visit shrouded in so much secrecy? I don't believe we would have heard much about it if the shoe hadn't been thrown at him. What's he got to hide?
