Sarah Palin is STILL popular....

ugh.....Sarah Palin showed up in Georgia to rally for Senator Chambliss, and people were still exited to see her. In fact, they think that she's a role model. This relatively unknown governor from Alaska quickly became popular amongst conservatives, but why? She's not particularly intelligent, and all she can do is make snappy comments. But maybe I'm just biased because I don't like hockey....I just really really really hope that people aren't serious when they say that they want her to run in 2012. Anyways here are a couple exerpts from an article that pretty sums up why people get so exited when she comes around. These are just a couple of my favorite lines:

Sarah Theus blew her perfect attendance record at Porter Elementary to go Monday to see Sarah Palin in Perry....

"Our candidate did not win the election but she won our hearts," said Sally Theus, Sarah's mother, who gave in to her daughter's begging to attend the rally....

"We wanted the girls to see a fine, upstanding, Christian woman with five kids and a good career," Tammy Hawkins said. "We just wanted them to see you can succeed."

....she echoed while nodding her head. "You betcha," she said to a roar of cheers.

...."conservative side of the so-called Republican party."....

"She's good," Morgan said softly and then added, "Cause she's pretty."...

"We like Palin because she's pro-life," said Kimberly, of Macon....

"She touched my finger. She touched my finger," Hailey said while jumping up and down.

The 9-year-old hunter hadn't been this excited since she killed her third wild hog over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Oh and Senator Chambliss did win. The democrats have 58 seats, and the Republicans have 41.

It is true that Sarah Palin is popular...she is well-known for her STUPIDITY.
The people's "love" for Sarah Palin won't last long; I'm pretty confident that in a couple of months, everyone will have forgotten her name... like Kobe Bryant's rape case...

i think sarah palin would make a wonderful presidential candidate in the year 2012. if she actually made it past primaries, she would be my ideal republican candidate. no foreign experience, little economic knowledge, and a less than impressive political career in general. and what tops it all off, a fairly conservative social platform. it represents a sure fire win for the President Obama (hopefully he does well in office and runs for reelection). i appreciate a liberal social platform and would like to see a Democrat stay in power. the easiest way to make that happen is if Palin ran for president as the Republican nominee

I'm surprised about this - mostly because of how much she was made fun of, and how many times it looked like she didn't quite have all her marbles. However, some of your favorite quotes look like they could easily be taken out of context.

Wow, that is definitely interesting, although I think the nnie year old girl killing small animals is the most disturbing part of the article. Despite everything, and the fact that we live in an especially democratic and liberal area,The republicans were passionate, they saw McCain as patriotic and experienced, with the right ideas and priorities, and they saw Palin as an excellent counter to McCain's decidely dated interests. She is attractive, witty and sharp and she knows enough to mostly hold her own. She seemed to represent the everyday working people that voters worry so much about. I am not at all surprised that people still love her that much. And I'm not sure I would be surprised if she shows up running for office again in the future. I also agree with Aaron, it is a way to keep the knowledgeable democrats in power.

Well I think it's obvious that over here on the west coast no one is going to like Palin. But the communities down in Georgia and most of the South, people are predominately Christian, so Palin is going to be appreciated. People down there don't care about her political blunders and lack of knowledge, all they see is a successful, Christian mother of five, who is a governor of Alaska. Many people still support her because they value religion over politics.

I love Aaron's response...it would be the most hilarious thing if Palin ran for president in 2012; she stands no chance against Obama. As for some of the article quotes, they are hilarious. I can't believe a little girl got so giddy when she touched Palin's finger. Talk about freaky and obsessed.
However, the fact that she has so much influence over people's opinions and lives is a bit eerie. Did we underestimate her abilities?

I'm surprised she is still in the news. I thought after the election she would go back to Alaska and people would forget about her. After all no one even knew her name before the election. I don't think it will last long.

I agree with the idea that Sarah Palin is so well known and talked about becasue of her stupidity. Remember when Jessica Simpson asked whether chicken of the sea (tuna) was "chicken or fish?" It gave her a lot of press attention. Similarly, Sarah Palin is a quirky political figure that gives Americans a good laugh.

I wouldn't really believe that people that actually listen to what she says could still believe her a competent political figure.

I would think that, 90% of the people that like her really don't listen to what she has to say.
