Perry may inspire people...But now iPhone Apps?

Whether you want to catch up on Rick Perry and his campaign, or whether you want to watch his live TV blunder in the recent GOP Debate, or maybe even have some fun watching Rick Perry talk while drunk, you could simply just search the web. But what are you going to do if you can't access a computer? No need to worry, there's an app for that! In a recent article on the news website KXAN, it states that Perry's campaign's and rather humorous TV brainfarts are starting to inspire people to make iPhone apps.

They have various apps such as soundboards, or apps that could instantly stream his brain fart that was on live television, or for the more serious viewers, an actual app to catch up and follow whats happening with his campaign to be President of the United States.

There are many spoofs, apps, or even . . . wait what was the third one? With many types of things like these surfacing on the web, I believe that people are starting to believe that Rick Perry is a joke, running for President. It seems that the some of current media is just finding ways to portray him as the person people wouldn't want as president, or makes a joke out of the things he does.

How do you think Apps, spoofs, and other things hate related on Rick Perry are affecting his support for president? Could things like these play a major role in the demise of his hopes of being the primary Republican presidential candidate?

In away I agree with Nick, I do believe that by making all these things about Rick Perry does make him look like a joke however, it is not a new thing to see a politician being made fun of. There are many soundboards out there of Obama and before Obama, Bush. I think making fun of the candidates is just a thing that comes with the job. I suggest watching the auto tune Obama video

I agree with Sammy. All politicians are at one point made fun of. Sure, they may be taking it too far at some points...but didn't he kind of bring it on himself. His new video on youtube is I believe the second most disliked video on youtube, right under Justin Bieber's baby music video.

I don't think this app will hurt Perry's hopes of being president very much because it happens to everyone. Every major politician is basically on the same level when it comes to being made fun of. Because this situation isn't unique to Perry it just won't make that much of a difference.

I agree with Colin that this probably won't hurt Perry's chances of being president. While I understand that this is bad publicity, the bottom line is that he is getting more publicity. I think that people would rather vote for someone who they have heard of before over someone who they have never heard of. With the minority of the population actually educating themselves about the candidates and the issues, I don't think that this bad publicity will greatly impact Rick Perry's chances.

Honestly, after the his new ad, there's not much else Perry could do to worsen his reputation... at least to the liberal crowd. The iPhone app will certainly give them much amusement, although I'm not sure it'll deter his die-hard supporters from voting for him (if he still has any). To some conservatives, this open mockery might make him seem like a victim and could rally him more support. Who knows?

The strange thing is that this sort of technology is relatively new and therefore has barely been used in politics. It'll be interesting to see how it affects Perry's campaign, and politics in general, over the next few months/ years.

If Perry has not already embarrassed himself enough, this app will make him pretty much a joke. But that is within the under 30 voters. iPhones, especially apps, are a young thing and will not have much effect on those who still support Perry today.

I think that prior to the controversial video, Rick Perry had a slim chance of winning the candidacy (he was on average 20 points behind the leaders on all major polls) but after the video, it has confirmed that he is unfit to be a viable candidate and I believe that even the Republican party has come to realize it.

Sophia brings up an interesting point about the name recognition factor. Negative though this publicity might be, it's still publicity, and his name is still sticking in the heads of plenty of potential voters. Whether or not he gets their votes is a different matter, but one could argue that any name recognition is better than none.

I also wanted to add that, election chances aside, I simply find it scary that there's a possibility of a future United States President being a man with his own series of satirizing, "brain-fart" apps. Sure negative publicity happens with everyone, but that still doesn't strike me as the epitome of normalcy.

I'm not even sure why Rick Perry still has support. Especially since he is obviously horrible at displaying himself as a competent candidate.

Highlighting Perry's bundle of blunders SHOULD hinder his support, unless his followers just follow him because they like him and not because they researched into his flawed policies.

(Shameless promotion: Vote Ron Paul 2012, the candidate that the media likes to blatantly ignore.)

I love the political tactics being used with modern technology. If someone really hates Rick Perry and would like to voice that opinion, creating an app for the iphone is a great way. Who knows, maybe his competion hired someone to create the app in order to eliminate some of the competition. Seems unlikely, yet still is possible.
