Tillerson: US trying to stay in Iran deal

After President Trump threatened Iran that the US may pull out of the Iran nuclear deal, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told CNN's Jake Tapper that this isn't the case. While Tillerson does want to stay in the deal, he says that him and Trump are going to make efforts to better the terms. The Iran nuclear deal was put in place under Obama and the deal involves Iran, America, the UK, the EU, Russia, France, China, and Germany. The deal lifted sanctions which were devastating to Iran's economy in exchange for Iran to limit their nuclear energy program. For the next 15 years, Iran's uranium stockpile is supposed to be reduced 98% (to 300kg). Trump wants to pull the US out of the deal because he claims that the deal is "too lenient" and that Iran has been violating the terms of the deal. The violations Trump speaks of come because Iran has made it tough for inspectors to check their stockpiles now and in the past. Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, says Trumps decisions are "directly related to North Korea". She says that Trump doesn't want our current deal to allow for Iran to become the next North Korea. While Trump advocates for the US to leave the deal, both Haley and Tillerson want to keep the Iran deal and just make changes that can fix its problems.

Do you believe that the deal is too lenient and the US should drop out if no changes are made? Do you think that Iran has the potential to become similar to North Korea in the future?
