iOS 7 Making People Sick

When Apple's most recent software update, iOS 7, was released last week, millions of users rushed to update their devices. The new iOS program includes vibrant colors and animations. According to Apple, these features were added to create a more enjoyable and pleasing experience with vibrant color coordination and the dimensional appearance. However, just after days of using the new software, many people are complaining that the supposedly delightful animations are actually making people sick. ABC News reports that people have experienced nausea, dizziness, headaches, and motion sickness. Many of the people ABC News interviewed mentioned that they wished for a "downgrade" for the iOS software or they are hesitant to update their Apple devices because it is making their devices insufficient.

I have yet to experience any sickness from using Apple's iOS 7, however I do think that this is an issue for Apple because one of their main goals with the new software was to make it attractive to prospective and current buyers, yet if it is creating illnesses, then it could force people to buy other products. I think this will hurt Apple as they begin to sell their new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c because people will not want to invest in a product that they cannot use to its full potential. What are your thoughts? Have you experienced similar sicknesses from using iOS 7? How do you think these reports will affect Apple?

I think that the sickness caused by the new software is such a rare case, but it will still result in big news against apple. I think that even if apple does get hurt a little by this new software, people will soon learn to accept it as the norm. Apple is a technology powerhouse, and people will continue to buy and use apple products.
In fact, an interesting fact is that apple's stock has risen since the release of iOS 7. People will always love what they are used to, and in this case, it's Apple.

The new ioS 7 has not affected me in anyway, but I hope if these reports are true, that the issue will be solved. Also, my parents recently got an iphone( free with a new two year plan from Verizon), and they will certainly be in awe since they hav eben using old flip phones for who knows how long. But if they get sick they may be turned away forever! But is it doubtful, and I really do not think that Apple will be affected greatly because like Connor Kenny said Apple is a "technology powerhouse" so they will solve any issue if it is real. We will just have to wait and see if the claims are true.

I feel like ever since Steve left (R.I.P. Steve Jobs), Apple's creativity in it's new designs and products have become less and less extraordinary. They're beginning to lose the "wow-factor" that had characterized the Apple brand before. The new iPhones and iOS7 are perfect examples of this; there are no super innovative and shocking improvements to the updates of old products. Has Apple reached its limit? If they don't want to lose their longtime customers (like my family), they're going to have to step up their game. In fact, this year in May, Samsung sold more phones than Apple for the first time since the release of the iPhone 5. "'Samsung shipped almost two times more smartphones and grew nine times faster than Apple during the quarter,' said Strategy Analytics Executive Director Neil Mawston in a report digging into the first quarter" (http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/29/tech/mobile/samsung-spanking-apple/index.html). And surprisingly, they actually spent LESS money than Apple on their smartphone marketing campaigns: "'Our business earnings grew from the previous quarter driven by an increase in smartphone sales and decreased marketing expenses,' Hyun Joon Kim, Samsung's vice president of mobile planning told analysts." Hmm.

I heard mama Pei say a very, very scary thing the other day: "I think I should switch to the Samsung Galaxy s4." :O

Maybe Woz's warnings were right. "We used to have these ads, I’m a Mac and I’m a PC, and the Mac was always the cool guy. And ouch, it’s painful, because we kind of are losing that." (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/20/steve-wozniak-apple_n_2725276.html). Apple, please don't lose your cool.

I agree with Connor, and although only a very small percentage of iphone users experience this issue, Apple cannot overlook this issue. But at the same time, as Connor stated, this will no longer be an issue in a couple months. Apple's main platform is to create products that are the most user-friendly, and this harmful effect is very contradicting. I believe apple will need to prove that they still value user-friendliness, or else people will start losing interest in Apple's products.
As Keith mentioned, we do not even know if these claims are real. Who knows if these sicknesses are actually correlated to the new iPhone? It may just be an attack on the new software.
