Trump Leaves it to the Military to Deal With Climate Change

Summary:

Last week, Trump released the National Defense Strategy for the United States and in it there was no mention of climate change. This is clearly an issue because rising oceans and melting ice shelves affects how the military should be approaching certain problems. The article goes on to state that the military is being proactive on the issue by enforcing their own climate change policy because Trump refuses to acknowledge this problem.

Opinion:

Trump is stupid. He clearly doesn't understand that a Country is not a business where making money is the only concern. Although ignoring climate change will save money, it ignores a huge problem in our world that could come back to haunt us later. In general, pretending problems don't exist is just a recipe for disaster. I am also personally against anyone that rejects conclusions based on solid scientific studies and clear evidence.

Questions:

Do you think there will be a large backlash from other countries in the future because Trump refuses to acknowledge climate change?

What are your opinions on the best way to address climate change?

Personally, I highly doubt there will be any real backlash from other countries on Trump's climate change policy (nothing). I believe this because I doubt other countries will really lash out against Trump in any form of political action. I do think however, that other countries will speak out against Trump's policy on climate change. Also, since Trump basically refuses to take any action on climate change anyway, I believe it is on the states to create their own policy on the matter. Basically if the country wants action to be taken on climate change it it up to us to take action, since it has become clear the president won't help the country's climate change policy.

I believe that there wont be backlash from other countries, but these countries will continue to advance and help the world while we avoid the issue. I believe that global warming requires effort from all, and by continuing to deny its mere existence, our president is setting everyone up for disaster. I agree with Pablo's idea of each state creating their own policies on this subject. Something must be done and if merely accepting the fact that this is something real holds us back, all future generations are screwed.

Though this is a generalization, I think it is generally true that people in office do not advocate for climate change because politicians are mainly older people who are more wanting to preserve their own worlds, and therefore lean conservative and are against dramatic changes in policy (like climate change policy) that may everything from social life to the economy. So, I think that this issue of climate change will not really be addressed anytime soon, and we can only hope that a push towards reform will occur when new congressmen take office and are more willing and open-minded in preserving the Earth. If not, then we're screwed.

I couldn't agree any more Matthew, in simple words, Trump is stupid. As President, Trump needs to become more seriously educated on issues such as climate change and cannot continue to be so ignorant. I think there def. will be backlash from other countries because no matter what country you live in, we all share the same home; planet earth. Therefore, we must put forth the time and effort to protect our planet because it is in serious harm. Yes, cost is a huge concern and that is likely the reason why Trump and his administration is refusing to address the issue, but protecting our home should be one of our main priorities. Just like Matthew said, choosing to ignore such large issues like this is a recipe for disaster. I am glad the military is doing all that they can since the President refuses to do so.
