The Biebs has been Beaten

Note: this won't be a terribly political post.

Today marks the end of an era.  As of today, Psy's "Gangnam Style" video officially received more views on YouTube than Justin Bieber's "Baby" video (808 million to 804 million views), making it the all-time most viewed video on YouTube.  Remember, there are only a little over 300 million people in America.  Aside from the absolutely insane number of views, the content of the two videos is remarkably different.  "Baby" details Bieber's love for some unknown girl. Gangnam style, on the other hand, supposedly mocks the consumerism of the wealthy Gangnam District of Seoul (and, by extension, I suppose it also mocks American consumerism).  Anyway, that's about as serious as this post could possibly get.  Most listeners probably don't even know what Psy is singing about (it's not all about sexy ladies!).

Well, all I really have to say about the Biebs is that he doesn't deserve the views in the first place. I'm sure many have heard, but Justin Bieber decided to meet with the Prime Minister of Canada dressed like this. What an arrogant idiot. That is all.

At least PSY has style, sheesh. And hey, PSY met with Ban Ki Moon, and you know what? He didn't dress in overalls. (Feel free to skip to about 6:40 for the more important part).

Bieber is perhaps more skilled at publicity stunts than he is at making bad music.

I have to respectfully disagree with Preston on this important issue. Justin is a truly talented musician who can sing, dance, and play the drums phenomenally. He is a musician who was discovered purely based on talent.

First of all, Justin is able to pull off those overalls. Sure the look may be somewhat casual for meeting the Prime Minister of Canada, however the Prime Minister looks quite excited to shake hands with Justin despite his poor wardrobe choice. This fashion choice by no means makes Justin an "arrogant idiot."
It's also important to note that Justin has met many other influential people in suitable attire.

Personally, I never thought I would hear a Korean song on the radio and, even better, at my senior year Homecoming. Rather than comparing the two, Bieber and Psy, I would like to say that Psy really did become successful, despite his song starting to become annoying rather than catchy.

I think Psy became viral because his song was weird, different and funny. While I am not a huge Bieber fan I do think he is more successful. He has a wide range of music and while some of it is not so amazing he does have some talent. Psy has one song that got really well known because of youtube.

I really don't think their attire while meeting important people has anything to do with their success. Personally I feel that all of the hype about Psy is silly. Bieber is overblown too don't get me wrong but he has produced a vast amount of songs that are popular for reasons more than just being weird.

I've got to agree with Preston on this one. Bieber has no idea how to act like a normal, sensible, respectful human being. As you can read from this article (http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/awards/justin-bieber-starts-american-music-awards-off-bratty-014347246.html) he just seems to have no class whatsoever.
PSY most certainly seems to have more sense when it comes to acting normal and appealing to people's likeability.

Here's a key piece of info that I don't think has been discussed yet (sorry to bring us back to this older post but I thought this was interesting.)

Justin didn't have time to change his clothes after doing a concert event all day... in fact, he met the prime minster at a hockey rink. He didn't go to meet the prime minister with this outfit in mind. This is no need to demolish the Bieber's reputation. White trash? I think this is being blown out of proportion.
