Pope Francis has died at the age of 88 April 21st, 2025 the day after Easter at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta. Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church had announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta. The Pope had been admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital on Friday, February 14th, 2025 after dealing with bronchitis for several day. While in the hospital, the Pope's sickness worsened and his doctors diagnosed him with bilateral pneumonia on Tuesday, February 18th. He spent 38 days in the hospital but then returned to his Vatican residence at the Casa Santa Maria to continue his recovery. Throughout the Pope's early 20s, he underwent surgery to remove a portion of his lung that had been affected by a severe respiratory infection and as he aged, he suffered and experienced many respiratory illnesses.
