Tensions between the United States and North Korea seem to be heating up as the leaders of both nations continue to verbally assault one another in the public eye. After President Trump's recent comments made about Un, made at the United Nations General Assembly, calling him "Rocket Man" and threatening to "Totally destroy North Korea" if the situation demanded it, Un has said that these comments have not fallen on deaf ears. In retaliation, Un has likened Trump a frightened dog, and stated that he will "make the man holding the prerogative of the supreme command in the U.S. pay dearly for his speech calling for totally destroying the DPRK."
This extremely ominous comment has very dangerous connotations. Could this feud between leaders take us down a deadly path? Will the sanctions made by the UN be enough to halt North Korea's nuclearization?
Personally, I believe the first step is to quit the verbal attacks made on social media or published. I think when dealing with a potentially dangerous situation some amount of decorum is needed and we should not resort to name calling and blatant threats.

I completely agree with you that verbal comments need to stop. The leaders are making each other angry and at the same time increasing risk for a deadly conflict. Considering the current state of both countries and their possession of destructive weapons, it is important to be safe and keep negative comments to themselves. I also believe that the UN's sanction will not be enough to halt North Korea. It's already been proven that North Korea will undoubtedly disobey the sanctions posed by the UN. It is reasonable that most future sanctions will pose no obstacle to North Korea.
I also agree that the provocations should come to an end. A situation of this matter needs to be deescalated in as many ways as possible. Verbal confrontations will only cause tensions to increase which will increase the likelihood of violence being present. I think the sanctions placed on North Korea are just in theory, but I feel in practice they will only do things to further incite North Korea to retaliate, that is of course if North Korea chooses to obey the sanctions.
this verbal assault contest has the potential to cause big problems. There will always be danger when one nation threatens another. However, the tension between the US and North Korea has been stretched out over multiple years, but it is being more emphasized now more than ever.I do not believe that the UN sanctions will be enough to stop North Korea.knowing scenarios such as the missile launch over Japan have proven that the Un is having no effect on their intentions to insinuate war.
I am not even sure whether to take this Trump/Un back and forth seriously or not anymore. We have heard Trump run his mouth about pretty much everything a president can run his mouth about and then some, but I don't know if he actually means it or if he is just trying to look like a tough guy in front of an international audience. Trump and Un sound like two bickering little kids right now calling each other names, and while it does hold a comical element, it is also a bit scary to think that these guys have nuclear codes. I would agree that it is in everyone's best interest for these two to quit calling names, a precaution which I feel like they should have learned in preschool. I have a feeling that this exchange of insults is just for show, but if either of the two actually mean what they say, we could be in for trouble.
The constant barrage of insults thrown at North Korea could potentially lead to a major crisis. Yes, it's just Trump running his mouth as usual, but he's dealing with someone a bit unstable, who allows the killing and torture of his own citizens at a whim. They sound like school children, but their both men in high power who let their pride cloud their judgement. I don't think we have much to worry about yet, but this whole name-calling thing isn't something that should be brushed off either.
As we all learned, the president is the one in charge of foreign affairs, but Trump seems to not care for what happens to America as a whole. It seems as if he is following his over-inflated ego and badmouthing Kim. America does have the power to completely obliterate North Korea, but this comes at a huge cost physically and politically. This name calling seems to be benign, but it could lead to a military strike by North Korea. Trump's name calling only makes Kim feel threatened, which is a very bad thing. A cornered mouse will bite the cat, and this is the same for North Korea. There is a chance that Kim will retaliate with his missiles, and insults will not help. Instead, Trump should focus more on domestic problems like the ravaged homes of many from the hurricanes and other people in need of help.
I agree that verbal comments need to stop. It just imposes a threat on us, I don't think trump realizes the danger he's gonna put on us Americans. They are both acting like children, and threatening each other, instead of acting like adults and ignore each other. The less they say the more safe we will be
