How Biden's infrastructure plan could create a jobs boom — in fossil fuels

Biden has made clear that he wants to move the country to more renewable sources, hence slowly removing the fossil fuels and coal industry which people thought would lead to a large loss in jobs however Biden has different plans. The white house is looking to hire hundreds of thousands of Americans to clean up the old sources of energy.

The American Jobs Plan looks to use 16 Billion dollar
s to help clean up old gas wells and abandoned coal mines. Biden looks to hire the skilled people who originally did work in those oil rigs and giving them their jobs back by cleaning up their old work place. This will not only make jobs but also will clean the pollution around these areas.

West Virginia will be one of the areas that benefits the most out of this plan as it has a great amount of uncapped wells. Plus, a lot of the people who lost their jobs were from West Virginia. People say that these jobs will help the people to find more jobs later however other people contest that by saying it doesn’t teach them how to code or live in the new world.

There are around 56,600 unplugged wells that can lead to many spills and can lead to groundwater contamination which takes even more money to clean up as these spills are 84 times more potent than CO2.

Connection to Economics:

Biden is killing two birds with one stone by not only encouraging innovation but also cleaning up the environment. This would save America a lot of money.

Questions:

Is Biden doing the right thing or should he try to get people jobs that may have more value for people to get more jobs after?

What is something else Biden could do to transfer to renewable energy?

I think that Biden is doing the right thing by using people already experienced with the plant to take it part. He is making use of the tools available to him and thus decrease the overall time to destroy the factories.

I think that Biden is doing the right thing because he is getting people who are experienced in that field of work to get the job done which is more efficient and effective. Biden could try to reduce the amount of fossil fuels burned and cut down in emissions. Along with that, he also is trying for a zero emission economy which will definitely help us move in the direction of renewable energy.

I think this is a really smart political move and connects back to Biden’s original message of bringing the country back together. It’s pretty easy to see that many people who work in the fossil fuel industry are not democrats/ Biden supporters, since the democrats are all about saving the earth and using renewable sources, which would diminish the fossil fuel industry. However, by providing those in the fossil fuel industry with more jobs directly related to what they are currently doing, Biden is still persuing the democratic idea of making energy cleaner (as cleaner facilities are more efficient) and still allowing those in this industry to keep their jobs and expand the industry in a new direction as well. Politically, this is genius, since it gives those in the fossil fuel industry (many of whom voted for Trump) one less reason to hate Biden. It allows makes the Biden look more trustworthy, since it looks like he really is fulfilling his promises to all Americans, not just democrats. And like stated in the post, this comes with the added benefit of saving money, which should please more conservative types. Biden is playing his role as a relative centrist and uniter quite well here.

I think Biden is doing the right thing, Biden is creating a plan that benefits both sides, it's providing jobs for those in the fossil fuel industry and it also aids in pursuing cleaner and more renewable energy. And this plan also can save America a lot of money which can be used for other issues such as racial inequity and COVID relief.

I think Biden is doing the right thing because it is the most efficient and effective plan. While getting more people employed he also creates new and beneficial job opportunities to make the community better. I think Biden can try to implement for renewable energy resources everywhere, while also cutting down on burning fossil fuels.
