Earth just had its 400th straight warmer-than-average month thanks to global warming

Summary:
Federal scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Thursday that last month was Earth's four-hundredth consecutive month with above-average temperatures. Additionally, in April, Carbon dioxide reached its highest ever concentration in the atmosphere at 410 parts per million, which is the highest CO2 concentration in 800,000 years, according to the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

Opinion:
It's easy to point fingers in the global warming debate. Things like Trump pulling out of the Paris climate deal and China's emission standards are all credited with the rise(and fall) of global temperatures. However, what I personally think is one of the biggest contributors to global warming is our own demand for consumer goods. We can say China is damaging the Earth with their low emission standards, but it's the demand coming from the States for consumer goods that makes the factories in China lower emission standards in order to pump out more goods. One of the best ways to combat global warming would be to start with lowering our own demand for goods or buy products that are known to be produced in a country with strict emission standards.

Is global warming a real concern? If so, what steps should we take to fight it?

The consequences of climate change are clearly seen already. Global warming is showing costly effects on our climate which includes our communities' health. It is now said to be "accelerating the rate of sea level rise, increasing flooding risks to low-lying communities". Erosion in coastal areas and flooding are concerns as well. One way we can fight global warming is to power our homes with renewable energy.

Climate change is definitely a real concern in our country. This is evident in the rising sea levels, melting ice,and precipitation increase. I think that we can combat global warming by restricting carbon emission reproduction, and placing sanctions on countries like China who play a large impact on this issue. Furthermore, we can use renewable energy and other methods to power our technology filled world.

I think more people should be concerned with global warming. Its becoming a more and more relevant issue as we continuously see greater climate change. I'm no expert in this field, but I do know that cars a big contributor to global warming. As a solution we need to promote car pooling, walking, and biking as a means of transportation. I also know that electric cars are becoming more and more popular such as Tesla cars and BMWs.

I think that global warming is a real concern, but people aren't worrying because they don't understand how alarming of an issue it is. I think we need to educate everyone on global warming and how it is harming the environment, temperatures, sea levels, etc. I think we should combat global warming by educating people how each person can take part in a big difference. We should teach people how they can help from limiting carbon emissions to using less coal plants, each step taken can help restrict carbon emission. We need to reuse and reduce waste and use renewable energy as much as possible.

Global warming is undeniably an important concern as its affects on our planet worsen by the day. But convincing a few groups of people to change where they buy their products from is not going to make a big difference. It's like the struggle to get people to be vegetarian because eating meat leads to animal abuse during mass production. You can convince a group of people, but unless you can convince everyone, you won't see a big change. And it's infeasible to try to convince everyone because there will always be people who care about their own satisfaction and convenience more than the bigger picture.

Global warming is definitely a major concern but current alternative fuels are costly and somewhat inefficient. Solar panels may be too costly to install for some and other alternative sources may harm wildlife in other ways too. There is no perfect solution but at the rate that the earth is warming and the obvious signs of damage to the ice caps and the ecosystem @ the poles, more money should be dedicated to finding a better solution, something the president is not eager to pursue.

I believe that global warming is a major concern, currently, the EPA is taking efforts to decline the rate of pollution in our very own country, however, in the recent years, the administration has taken large steps backward while pushing for renewable energy, allowing the US to seek cleaner energy. Years ago, we predicted this kind of event and phenomenon, however a mix of political tension and ignorance have thwarted America’s progress to be the world’s leader in clean energy. The United States communicated with it’s fellow UN and NATO members that funding would be cut if clean energy was not a priority for the world.
